Although everyone will develop their own style, the following general tips apply
throughout the game.
Look for secrets everywhereDuke Nukem 64 is loaded with surprises and items that will help you adjust those alien attitudes.
Stay alertNew areas are seldom empty.
Peak around corners before crossing a street, and watch out for approaching shadowsthey usually dont belong to a buddy of yours.
Watch your ammunitionDuke automatically switches weapons when the current one runs out of ammo. Make sure that Duke is holding the weapon you intend to usea Missile blast at close range will ruin your day.
Prioritize enemiesAs a rule of thumb, shoot faster firing aliens first.
This includes Pig Cops, Enforcers, and in crowded rooms, Assault Troopers/Captains.
Use Dukes speed to your advantageDuke is faster than any of the enemies hell face. If the firefight gets a bit too hot, dont be embarrassed to make tracks and live to fight another day.
Use the terrain to your advantageUnderwater enemies cant hurt you if you surface.
Become proficient with all the weapons in the gameYou never know when your Pistol will be all youve got.
Grenades make great calling cardsToss Grenades around corners and through doors to clear things out before you follow.
Dont waste valuable explosive ammunitionUsing a Missile or Grenade on a single Assault Trooper or Pig Cop is overkill. Save high explosive rounds for crowds and Bosses.
Dont waste resourcesJust because you picked up a cool new Inventory item, dont go wasting it for no reason. It really stinks to be stuck in a dark area and have to feel your way out because you thought those Night Vision Goggles you picked up were so cool earlier.
Choose your skill level carefullyOn higher skill levels, the aliens are tougher and more numerous.
And for crying out loud, have fun: blow everything upThe environment in Duke Nukem 64 is extremely realistic. In general, if it appears something would look cool if it exploded, chances are it does.
