DUKE NUKEM Nintendo 64

Level Walkthroughs

Level 1 - Hollywood Holocaust

1 You start on the roof of a building, watching your spaceship go down in flames. Grab the Pistol Clip behind the nearby crate, then shoot the gas canisters. Drop down the ventilation shaft that the explosion exposes, grab the nearby Stimpack (if you didn’t fall on it), and take out the waiting Assault Trooper(s).

2 Jump onto the crate near the car, and then jump to the ledge above. Walk down the ledge to your left and jump in the window. Inside the small apartment, you’ll find more Assault Troopers and some Grenades.

There’s a secret door around the corner of the room on the inner wall. It’s in the middle of the shadow cast by the two windows. Inside you’ll find some Vitamin X—save it for later. Next, slide carefully out the set of windows near the secret door you just opened. Grab the Atomic Health at the end of this ledge, then re-enter the apartment. Step out the windows through which you originally came, and face the wall the car is smashed into. Jump up onto the ledge ahead. A Grenade Launcher will rise ahead of you.

3 Finish clearing out the street. Don’t use up all your Grenades. You’ll find a Pistol Clip in the nearby skip, as well as a Stimpack in the back alley.

Use the Grenade Launcher to lob a Grenade through the ticket window of the cinema. Enter the ticket office through the hole you just created, and kill the aliens in the outer lobby, grab the Pistol Clip near the rubbish bin inside. Now open the doors to the inner lobby.

4 After killing all the Aliens, get behind the counter, open the cash register. A secret panel above and to your right opens. Jump across the counter, and activate the secret lift below the open panel. At the top you’ll find some Armour, and a switch. Activate the switch to open the alcove behind the counter, then jump down.

Lob a Grenade in the direction of the new alcove to the left of the cash register to take care of any resistance, then grab the Atomic Health inside.

Open the door at the other end of the counter. You’ll see a Shotgun ahead. Turn left as you enter and kill the Assault Captain waiting to ambush you.

Across the lobby, near the outer lobby door, you’ll see a rubbish bin by the lift that leads up to the Arcade. Jump on top of the rubbish bin, and then jump up as you push the "Use" button. This secret alcove contains Pipe Bombs, a Stimpack and Night Vision Goggles.

5 Ready your new Shotgun, and head for the lavatory. As you enter, you’ll be ambushed by Assault Troopers. Take them out, then open the stall door and kill the Trooper inside. Jump onto the top of the stalls, and grab the Portable Medkit in the alcove to your right. Still balancing above the stalls, shoot the air duct opening across from you, and then enter the duct beyond. It will lead you to a room where you’ll find more Assault Troopers, and a Babe! Kill the Troopers, and rescue the Babe by walking up to her and hitting the "Use" button. Before you leave this room, lob a Grenade back down the air duct. The explosion should blow out a corner of the duct, revealing a Holoduke. Grab it, then return to the room where you rescued the Babe. Open the panel that looks like a lift and enter the projectionist’s booth.

6 Inside the projectionist booth, several Assault Captains are waiting for you. Kill them and grab the Red Access Card on the shelf. Jump onto the projector to collect some Atomic Health. A panel opens, revealing a Grenade Launcher guarded by a Trooper. Kill the Trooper and get the Launcher. Using your pistol, blast the projectionist’s window, then activate the nearby switch to the right. Once the movie starts, snipe or drop a few grenades into the audience to make it easier later. Go down the spiral staircase to the left of the projectionist’s window. If you need health, there is a secret panel on your right near the double doors that hides a Stimpack.

7 Be sure to watch for flying Assault Captains as you make your way to the front of the theater. If the screen is still intact, shoot a Grenade at it. A hole should appear in the centre of the screen. Grab the Armour and Pistol Clips on the stage, and then climb through the hole. Once you’ve killed the lurking Troopers, you’ll be rewarded with some Shotgun Shells and a Jetpack. Climb back into the theater, and return to the main lobby.

8 From the lobby, take the lift up to the Arcade. Standing on the lift, shoot the gas canisters along the left wall. If you activate the Duke game a panel will open in the wall behind Duke with another holoduke.

You’ll see the access panel for the Red Access Card you found earlier. Open the door. As you approach the Shotgun Shells in the room ahead, the wall explodes, revealing a Pig Cop. Kill him, then enter the narrow passage he guarded. Fire a shot at the end of the hall. A fire extinguisher explodes, giving you a way out, through which you’ll see the Exit. You can’t quit yet. You still have to take out the loitering Pig Cops and Assault Captains between you and the Exit.

9 Before you cross the walkway, step onto the thin ledge to your right. Follow it around the building until you are near the theatre marquis. Activate your Jetpack, and fly up a bit while moving toward the building. You’ll enter a small apartment full of goodies, including some Pipe Bombs, a Shotgun, a Grenade Launcher, and Submachine Guns. Leave the apartment, and get back to the walkway near the exit.

Using the Jetpack, fly up—way up—until you find a small alcove guarded by two turrets. Grab the Shotgun Shells and Jetpack then return to the walkway. Walk across the walkway toward the Exit, and slide onto the ledge to your right. Midway down the wall, there is a secret panel. Open it, then step into the teleporter.

10 The teleporter takes you to a secret store. Take a right as you enter, and jump onto the crate in the office. The middle section of the shelves is actually a secret door. Open it, and get the Dum Dums inside. Clear out the Assault Troopers and Pig Captains shopping in the store, then grab the Pistol behind the counter. You’re done here. To exit the store, return to the office, and get behind the desk. There is a switch on the lower left corner of the desk that will open the teleporter door. Activate it, then teleport back to the Exit area. That’s it—you’re done with Hollywood Holocaust. Bash the nuclear symbol to go to the next level.

Level 2 - Gun Crazy

1 You start face-to-face with an Assault Trooper, then depending on which skill level you’re playing, there are also several Pig Cops roaming the streets, and flying above in Recon Patrol Vehicles. It takes about three direct Shotgun blasts to bring one of the Patrol Vehicles down.

Once they’re down, you’ll have to kill the Pig Cops inside. When you’re done at street level, climb the air duct outside Duke Burger, and follow the ledge around to your left to find some Armour. Jump down from the ledge and head for Duke Burger.

2 Enter Duke Burger, then turn left and blast the Pig Cop waiting for you. Finish off the Troopers inside, then go to the right side of the restaurant where you’ll find a Holoduke. Across the restaurant, there are Shotgun Shells in the lavatory. Hop over the counter, when you open the register on the left (as you face the front door), Pig Cops are released. Leave Duke Burger, and head for the doorway of the Gun Boutique, the gun shop that was to your left when you started this level.

3 The door to the Gun Boutique pivots around its center, so be ready to plug the Pig Cop waiting for you. Inside the store, Assault Troopers lurk among the shelves. Finish them off, then walk down the middle aisle. The shelved wall at the end is a secret door that swings open to reveal some Pipe Bombs and Armour. Once you’ve collected the goodies, head for the side of the store opposite the door you entered. Take the hallway to the left, and get ready to splatter some Pig Cops. On your right are four mini-theatre doors. Open each one, starting at the opposite end. Behind the panel in this theatre is a Grenade Launcher. The other three doors hide other goodies. Kick the rubbish bins you find in two of the rooms to get some Vitamin X and a Pistol Clip. Fire a Grenade at the cracked wall near the first theatre you entered. The wall explodes, and you’ll be able to squeeze through into the lavatory. Be ready for an ambush by Assault Troopers. "Use" the hand-dryer, and a secret panel opens to reveal some Night Vision Goggles. Return to the store through the lavatory door. Assault Troopers patrol the area behind the counter, take them out. Grab the Shotgun and then jump onto the shelves in the back corner. Pressing the wall opens a secret door that hides some Atomic Health. The advertisement between the shelves is another secret door. Behind it you’ll find some Dum Dums. There is a row of three buttons on the wall near the register. Unlock the red sliding door by pushing the outer two.

4 Open the unlocked red door, and activate your Night Vision Goggles. You’ll see a lift ahead, but before you reach it, blast the Assault Trooper to your right. Follow this new passage, and you’ll eventually come to an area where a Pig Cop is guarding some Atomic Health. Kill the Pig, get the Atomic Health, and return to the lift. Deactivate your Goggles and use the lift. Upstairs, you’ll find some Shotgun Shells and a set of Submachine Guns. Open the red panel to get the Blue Access Card. Kick the rubbish bin to reveal a Stimpack inside. Before you go back down the lift, activate your Goggles again, and turn left inside the lift. When the lift lowers, you’ll find a welcoming committee of at least one Pig Cop waiting for you. Let ’em have it, then open the red sliding door and leave the store.

5 Walk down the street until you reach an open window to your right. A Pig Cop is waiting inside. Kill him, then jump in and use your Blue Access Card. Activate the middle two switches revealed. The use the new switch that appears, and ride out the explosion. Cross the street and climb onto the ledge ahead. You’ll find the Yellow Access Card back here, as well as a Portable Medkit. Jump down from the ledge, and use the Yellow Access Card to enter the Duke Burger back entrance.what about the sewer...octabrain

6 The alcove to your right holds at least one Pig Cop. Behind the counter is a Shotgun and a Stimpack. Walk up the ramp, and save some hostile fire by shooting the air duct ahead. Jump into it, and you will emerge in the lavatory. Kill the Troopers here, and any in the telephone alcove beyond. Return to the lavatory, and fire a few shots at the toilet, push on the wall behind it. A Pig Cop-filled passageway will lead you to some Grenades, a Jetpack, a Holoduke, some Vitamin X and Goggles. Follow the slime stream without stepping into it. At the end, you’ll find another Babe, rescue her and get the Atomic Health near her. Return to the lavatory, then walk out the door near the telephones, the rubbish bin here holds some Shotgun Shells. Walk into the pool room. Kill the Assault Captains, then take the passage to the kitchen.

7 Kill the Troopers in the kitchen, then push on the wooden cabinet to reveal a Red Access Card. Turn around and blast the Pig Cops coming down the ramp from the pool room. Shut yourself in the cabinet if you’re having a tough time, then open it to pick them off. The grey door leads into the restaurant itself, but you’ve been there already. Leave the kitchen, and turn right at the top of the ramp. At the end of the hallway ahead, several Pig Cops are hiding behind the door. As you approach, the door will explode. Fire a few Grenades their way when it does, and grab the ammo inside. Use the Red Access Card to unlock the garage door.

8 Clear the loading dock with your Submachine Guns, and enter the foreman’s office. Inside you’ll find some Shotgun Shells. Jump onto the desk, then look up and shoot out the air duct cover. Jump up and crawl through it. This duct contains some Pipe Bombs and Atomic Health. Get your Shotgun or Submachine Guns ready, and pop the cover at the opposite end of the air duct and drop down to fight the Pig Cops in the narrow passage beyond. Once you have them out of the way, hit the switch at the end of the passage that will open the sliding doors. The loading dock is now crawling with Pig Cops and Assault Captains. Use the passageway for cover, and pick them off. Jump onto the crate with the red UP arrow painted on it, and then jump to the ledge above the narrow area behind the sliding doors.

9 Walk down the hallway, and take out the Pig Cops guarding this area. There is a secret door to the left of the tall crates in the large room beyond. Behind it is a Portable Medkit. You’ll see the Exit around the corner, but don’t turn the corner to take it—if you do you’ll miss out on a secret level. Instead, return to the hallway that led here from the ledge outside. Jump onto the small crate to open a secret door near the ledge overlooking the loading dock Behind this door is a panel which will allow you to access Duke Burger, L.A. Meltdown’s secret level.

Level 3 Duke Burger

Duke Burger is L.A. Meltdown’s secret level. You can access it through Level 2: Gun Crazy. Although this level is fairly small, it’s packed with aliens. To get there from Gun crazy - don’t turn the corner to take the exit Instead, return to the hallway that led here from the ledge outside. Jump onto the small crate to open a secret door near the ledge overlooking the loading dock Behind this door is a panel which will allow you to access Duke Burger.

1 You start inside a loading dock. Take out a turret across from you immediately. Blast the gas canisters beneath it to blow a hole in the sliding door (if that doesn’t do it, use your Grenade Launcher). Assault Captains are located throughout the dock area, so watch your back and hunt them down. In the street outside, you’ll see that you’ve blasted a hole in the building next door as well. Enter through the hole, and kill the Assault Troopers there. There is an air vent in the back wall. Shoot it, and climb inside to get some Grenades. Another air vent is located on the wall to the left. Shoot it, and then climb up and exit onto the main street outside the restaurant. You’ll see that the front door of the restaurant requires the Blue Access Card for entrance. Don’t worry about it—you can finish this one without it. Walk around to the back of the restaurant and activate the switch near the garage door. Continue around the building until you are opposite the Drive-thru window. Behind you is a dead-end street, and a Babe to save. Rescue her, then return to the street. Climb the air duct on the pillar holding up the breezeway roof, then jump up and forward to enter the building. Inside the air duct, you’ll find some Pipe Bombs, a Pistol Clip and a Stimpack.

2 There’s a small opening that leads to the kitchen. Snipe at the aliens below. Drop down and finish off any stragglers. Grab the Submachine Guns in the corner, and the Armour sitting in the grease, and head down the hallway past the door that requires the Red Access Card. On the desk in the office around the corner, there’s the Red Access Card and a Shotgun. Once you have them, activate the switch on the lower left corner of the desk, then quickly climb the crates in front of the desk to find a secret area that has some Dum Dums in it. There are also Night Vision Goggles on one of the crates. Leave the office, and return to the kitchen.

3 De-activate the force field blocking you from the restaurant’s front area. Turn the corner then walk straight ahead past the drinks dispenser. A Pig Cop will ambush you from the right as you enter the hallway. Turn left and go to the end of the hall to check out the women’s lavatory where you’ll find some Pipe Bombs. Return to the hallway, and enter the men’s lavatory. After you’ve killed the Assault Captains here, blow out the air vent, then climb up. Turn right in front of the fans, and get the Portable Medkit ahead. Take the other passage, and you’ll drop down in front of the drinks dispenser in the restaurant.

4 Head for the door that requires the Red Access Card. Open it, and kill the Assault Captains beyond. There are Submachine Guns in a corner of this room. Jump on the conveyor belt, run, and turn left at the bottom of the first section. Kill the Pig Cop heading your way, then stop in the small alcove to your left to grab some Shotgun Shells. Continue to the end of the conveyor belt, and turn left. The corner to the right of the passage on your right opens up when you press on it, and there is a Grenade Launcher in the room beyond. Return to the room outside. Follow the passage on your right and you’ll come to a room with hanging bodies. In the second alcove to your right there’s a secret door. Open it to retrieve some Pipe Bombs. The exit from the room is to your right as you leave the secret area. Follow the passage to the back office. Use the doorway for cover, and kill the Pig Cops and Assault Captains inside. A huge hole will be blasted in the wall to your right. Grab the Submachine Guns and turn to face the swarm of Pig Cops coming through the hole from outside. Behind the desk there’s a switch. Activate it, and return to the hallway you used to get here. Turn left, and behind some crates, you’ll see the exit. Watch out, though. Before you can reach it two side passages open, spilling Pig Cops in your lap. As you finish them off, you’ll hear a voice saying, "We’re gonna fry your ass!" The scene fades out, and you’re on your way to Death Row.

Level 4 - Death Row

1 Get out of the electric chair immediately! To your right there is a small guardroom. Enter it, then open the panel on the wall to your left as you enter. Grab the Pistol and Clip behind the panel, and then take out the Pig Cops. In the guardroom, face the window. Activate the switch on your right, and the chair will lower.Get the Shotgun and some Shotgun Shells bemeath it, then return to the guardroom, and activate the other switch. This will open a panel in front of the chair where the observers are. Shoot the glass, and kill them all. On your left as you enter the observation room, a secret panel will slide up to reveal a Holoduke. The red door won’t open from here, so walk down the hallway to your right instead, and open the panel with the medical symbol marked on it. Grab the Portable Medkit inside and turn around.

2 Enter the hallway to your right. Around the corner is a Pig Cop. Kill him then turn around and open the cell door in the corner. Rescue the Babe stashed in here, then shove the bed in the cell out of the way and enter the passage behind it. Activate the Night Vision Goggles you find, then open the panel to your left while you’re still in the tunnel. Follow the new tunnel, and you’ll come to a room with some Atomic Health in it. Get it and return to the cell. Turn right as you leave the cell, open the first door you come to, and the one behind it. In the last cell on your left, you’ll find an Assault Trooper waiting for you, kill the Trooper, and open the middle door. Kill the aliens inside, then get the Submachine Guns from above the tape deck. Activate the tape deck, and back up quickly. A door will be open on your right, revealing some Atomic Health. Grab it, and you’re done in here. You can exit the way you came in, or take the other door, which leads you back to the observer’s room. Walk around to the corner where you killed the Pig Cop in the hall, and then run straight ahead. Don’t stop, because the wall to your right will explode as you pass.

3 Enter the new opening in the hall and you’ll come to an area where two massive gears are turning. Carefully jump to the one on your right. When you’re ready, jump up to the other gear, then onto the ledge above. Behind a panel around the corner, you’ll find the Blue Access Card. Get it, and repeat the gear jumps in the opposite direction to return to the room below. If you’re feeling really lucky, you can try and jump for the Atomic Health perched on a ledge above the two gears before you jump down. Good luck! When you’re done, turn right as you leave the room, and activate the Blue Card Access panel on the door at the end of the hall.is the secret on the ledge like the PSX ?

4 Beyond the unlocked door are laser tripwires across the hall ahead. So open the door on your left instead. The room beyond is home to several Pig Cops. Watch out for the Pig Cop on the lower level. When you are standing by the door, you can’t hear him shoot. There are three Stimpacks on the level you enter on, so use them if nessessary. You can’t open any of the doors in this area yet, so proceed across the room and open the opposite door. Kill the Pig Cops beyond, then stand back and fire at the gas canisters on your left and you’ll blow a hole in the wall. Inside, you’ll find some Atomic Health and a Pistol Clip. Climb out of there, and walk up the ramp ahead. If your fight with the Pig Cops and the canister explosion didn’t de-activate the laser tripwire here, then crouch down and crawl under it, or lay down a pipe bomb and blow it up. Turn left at the top of the ramp, kill the Pig Cops and Assault Captains in the showers and get the Pistol Clips inside.

5 On the landing outside the showers, you probably already saw the area guarded by dual laser tripwires. The Yellow Access Card sits on a platform behind these tripwires. To get it, run and jump over the tripwires, and get the Access Card, running past it after you have it. Don’t make any sudden moves—more tripwires have appeared right behind you. Turn around, and lob a Grenade or Pipe Bomb to take out the Pig Cops at the bottom of the ramp who came to investigate. This should also do away with the set of tripwires you jumped over. Crouch down, and leave this area, heading for the room with the Yellow Access Door on the lower level.

Ignore the two force-field protected cell blocks—you’ll need to de-activate them before you can enter. A word of caution: Don’t shoot a Grenade at them, since it will bounce back at you.

6 As you open the Yellow Access Door, immediately begin firing at the alcove to your right. It’s loaded with Pig Cops and a horde of Grenades and a Stimpack. Beyond the next door, there’s a large, open area with a high ledge opposite you. Kill the Pig Cop in the doorway ahead, and then use this opening as cover to shoot the Recon Patrol Vehicles hovering overhead. Gun turrets stationed at intervals on the ledge above you also guard the open area. Get the Red Access Card, which is on the ground to your right. Avoid the turrets’ fire as you climb the right-hand air duct (as you face the door) outside the door opening you were cowering in, and jump up to the ledge. Take out the turrets on this side and get the Pipe Bombs near the last turret. Climb the duct between the two ledges, and over the door you’ll find three Atomic Healths. Stock up, and go finish off the other turrets. While you are still on this side of the ledge, fire a Grenade at the rock wall ahead above the area the Red Access Card was in. In the hole you created, you’ll find some Vitamin X.

7 Take the Red Access Card back through the Yellow Access door, and open either of the two Red Access doors on the upper landing. The wicked looking alien head in the control room above does nothing but taunt you. Jump onto the platform it’s on and get the Submachine Guns. If you open the red door, you’ll see a landing protected by twin laser tripwires. Blow them up with a Pipe Bomb, then walk out onto the ledge. Each of the pillars supporting this walkway has a secret area in them. The one on the right has some Atomic Health in it, and the other has Pipe Bombs in it. The panel between the pillars can be opened to reveal a map of the level. Return to the control room and enter the two side rooms, kill the Pig Cops in them, and activate the switches you find there. These switches open the cell blocks near the showers. Head for the cell blocks.

8 As you turn the corner by the showers, you’ll be ambushed by the Pig Cops that are now free to fire at you. Once the halls are clear, enter Cell Block #1. Use the switch near the de-activated force field to open the cell doors on the right side of the cell block in sequence. All the cells contain an Assault Captain, the last cell also has a Grenade Launcher. At the end of this cell block is a gas canister. Shooting it blows a hole in the corner that allows you to drop down to the area in which you found the Atomic Health earlier. Enter Cell Block #2, and repeat the same process to open the cell doors on the left side of the cell block. All the cells here, except for the last one, contain Stimpacks. Head for the last cell and kill the Assault Captain inside. The poster on the wall is hiding a tunnel. Work your way to the end of it, and then plant a Pipe Bomb. Retreat, and set it off. You’ve blasted a new tunnel. Repeat the procedure again, and you will blast your way into a sewer passage. This passage will lead you to the submarine staging area.

9 As you leave the sewer tunnel, you’ll get your first look at an Octabrain.is there not the quake bit earlier?Kill it and the Assault Captains, then walk to your left. A Pig Cop is guarding a doorway located up a slight incline. Once he is dead, you’ll see a switch to open the door. This is the door you couldn’t open from the courtyard. There are Shotgun Shells scattered around on this side of the door, and some Scuba Gear behind the pillar to the right. Climb up the same pillar and open a secret area that contains some Night Vision Goggles. Jump into the water, and swim up into the sub from below. Kill the Troopers inside, then walk behind the crate at the rear of the sub. A secret door leads to the engine compartment and a Portable Medkit. Once you have it, go to the front of the sub and activate the switch on the right side of the control console, then exit the level by smashing the Auto-Destruct symbol on the wall.

Level 5 Toxic Dump

Toxic Dump starts with the submarine rapidly filling with water. Get used to swimming; Duke will have to make it through several areas, both above and under water to complete this level. Try to conserve your Scuba Gear’s air supply, because you’ll have to have a decent supply of air left to reach the exit.

1 As the submarine fills with water, dive down and find the three airlock switches on the hull. Activate the top and bottom one to open the airlock, then swim out of the submarine. Surface immediately, and run to the doorway on the left side of the structure ahead. Slide out and pulverize the two turrets above you, then spin around and kill the Assault Captains inside the room between the turrets.

2 Swim across to the opening on your left, and climb up to get the Blue Access Card and a Grenade Launcher. Make the leap to the small alcove on your left, and push on the left-hand wall. Inside you’ll find some Grenades. Push on the right-hand wall of this space, to find a Holoduke. If you fall into the water as you try to jump back across, walk up again and jump to your right from the landing at the top to get more Grenades. Jump on top of the downed sub, and run through the fire. Dive, and surface inside the sub. Grab the Portable Medkit, Atomic Health, and Armour in the new alcove, and swim outside the sub.

3 Find the dark hole in the rock wall underwater, and enter it. Blast the Octabrain inside, then drop a Pipe Bomb in the back of the cave. The blast will open up a passage to another pool. Rescue the Babe on the shore, and then demolish the barrels to open a passage back to the surface. Now that you have the Blue Access Card, unlock the door and enter the building.

4 Push on the right-hand wall as you enter, and a secret passage will open. Follow it and get the Submachine gun ammo in the room beyond. Toss a Pipe Bomb to the end of the main hallway and explode the laser tripwire guarding the door. Get the Submachine Gun ammo.

5 Open the red door in the middle of the hallway, and walk down the ramp. Pick up the Shotgun Shells on the factory floor. Cross the room, heading for the red door on the lower level. Before you get there, several Pig Cops will ambush you from the right. Kill them then walk up the ramp they guarded. Rescue the Babe at the top, then jump down to the factory floor. Stand on the yellow and black striped floor panel at the end of the conveyor belt, and the crane will carry you up to an area where another crane will latch onto you and drop you on another conveyor belt.

6 Shoot out the glass and enter the guardroom on your right, killing the Pig Cop inside in the process. The door leads back to the outer hallway. The red panel near the shattered glass wall hides the Red Access Card. Grab it, then jump back onto the conveyor belt. Walk into the slime on your right as you turn the corner, and push the wall at the end to reveal some Atomic Health. Blast the glass wall at the top of the incline and press the blue switch on the wall to open both tubes. If you have enough Jetpack fuel, you can fly up and reach the two Atomic Health inside the left tube. The right tube contains Pipe Bombs and some Armour. Get on the conveyor belt again, and return to the factory floor.

7 Use the card on Red Access Panel. The panel slides down, revealing a shrink ray. Face it and let it shrink you. Run down the right-hand passageway until you come to another room, where you’ll find a switch on the wall that will unlock the red door. Activate the switch, then step in front of the shrink ray in this room. Quickly return through the passageway and enter the open red door.

8 The area beyond the red door is under water and is infested with Octabrains. It’s crucial that you save your air as much as possible, so move quickly once you dive in. The first room you enter holds some Shotgun Shells and Stimpacks. Get them, then swim out of the room, being careful not to activate the mines floating nearby. Swim to your right, and enter the other flooded room. Kill the Octabrain guarding this room. A switch on the lower right side of the window will raise the water level. Swim out of the room, and up to the surface.

9 There are several Assault Captains on the rocks above you. Grab the Vitamin X near the waterfall and let them have it. Swim around to your right and you’ll discover a landing. Climb out of the water and walk around to your right. There are two stone ramps ahead. Use the right-hand one to jump to the dark area on the wall, and get the Portable Medkit and Shotgun hidden there. Jump back across and use the other ramp to jump across the pool. There is a small, heavily guarded control room ahead on your right. Lob a few Grenades inside, then activate both switches you find. Get the Grenade Launcher sitting on the console, and use it to blast a hole in the rock wall on your right as you leave the room. Enter the hole and lay a Pipe Bomb at the back of this area to blast your way deeper into the rock. There is some Atomic Health inside the next section. Do some blasting one more time, and get the Jetpack revealed by your handiwork. Return to the area overlooking the waterfall.

10 Dive into the pool, and swim to the now open door to the right of the last room you visited before surfacing. Swim around the corner, and fire a Grenade at the Octabrains in the control room ahead. Behind the door in this room is a Holoduke. There is a switch on the corner of the windowsill that will cause an explosion, and open the large doors on waiting for the gray panels and swimming through when they appear. Start blasting as soon as you pass the cogs; Octabrains occupy the pool beyond. Surface as soon as you can.

If you’re running low on air, you can still complete this sequence by taking some Vitamin X, and using your super speed to breeze through. You’ll have to hurry, and you may take some damage, but you can do it.

11 Assault Captains surround the pool you surface in. Clear the room, then follow the stream. Fight the current by backing up. If you need to, jump uphill to keep from sliding down. There is a blastable wall on your right. The easiest way to open it is to send a Pipe Bomb downstream, and set it off as it passes the wall. Behind it, you’ll find a small room with a Stimpack and a teleporter. Enter the teleporter to go to the cog room, there are more Assault Captains and a Submachine Gun and ammo here, then teleport back to the underground stream. Let the current carry you downstream this time.

12 You’ll fall into a large pool with two spillways on either side. Climb one of the spillways, and jump onto the ledge at the top. Finish off the Octabrains floating around, then walk to the edge and look for a control room below. Rain Grenades into the room, then jump down and enter it for the Submachine Gun ammo and large Medkit inside. A switch on the wall opens another ledge on the spillway. Climb the spillway, and stand on the ledge you were on before. You should be able to see a switch across the spillway. Stand on the gray platform at the edge of the ledge you’re on, and shoot the switch. The platform will move to the centre of the pool, and so will the one across the pool from it. Step across to the other platform to reach the other side, or you use a Jetpack to fly across.

13 Enter the doorway beyond, and jump into the slime stream. Your protective boots will activate so the slime shuldn’t cause a problem. Before you head downstream, shoot the air vent near the waterfall across from you, and jump up to it. Inside you will find two Atomic Health. Follow the stream, keeping to the sides to pick up some Shotgun Shells and Protective Boots. You’ll have to dive into the stream to reach the end, get your Grenade Launcher ready and send some Grenades downstream to take care of any Octabrains you see. There is a blastable wall on your right. The easiest way to shoot it is to use your Jetpack to hover while you blast it. Inside, there’s a Holoduke and some Dum Dums. Continue downstream to the exit. The narrow red door to the left of the Exit panel reveals a teleporter that will take you to a ledge high above the pool you spent so much time swimming around. Unless you have plenty of Jetpack fuel, don’t jump off the ledge. Return to the Exit panel, and head for the next level.

Level 6 - The Launch Facility

1 The alcove to your right is infested with Assault Troopers. Deal with them, then jump across to their alcove. At the top of the ramp ahead you’ll find a force field blocking your way. Open the panel on the left and pick up the Protective Boots inside. Behind you, a secret panel in the wall has opened to reveal some Armour. Mop up the Assault Captains and get the Armour. Down in the slime, a new alcove is open beyond the spinning blades. Head for it, and flip the switch inside to de-activate the force field at the top of the ramp.

2 Past the de-activated force field, there’s an Octabrain guarding a pool of slime. Kill it, then dive into the pool. Swim around the corner, and you’ll find a secret place with Atomic Health, Shotgun Shells, and Dum Dums. Swim back to the surface, and continue into the next room. A turret is located to your right, destroy it before you climb the ramp on your right. Be on the look out for flying Assault Captains in this room. At the top of the ramp, you’ll find four red buttons. Activate the three left ones to open the door on the tower across from you. Enter the tower and get the Blue Access Card inside. Before you leave, hit the switch nearby.

3 Turn right at the bottom of the ramp, and walk up the slope ahead. A pack of Assault Captains and Octabrains will assault you from the dark room ahead, so use the short side passages for cover and finish them off. The switch on your right turns on the light in the room. Jump across and get the Atomic Health on the platform ahead, then leap across and grab the Grenade Launcher. Immediately turn right, and lob a few Grenades at the control room ahead. With the control room clear, enter and turn left. The Blue Access Pad is on your right. Activate it, and the rocket will rise from the silo outside.

4 Leave the control room, and walk down the ramp. Enter the darkened hallway across the room, which leads to a large room with a massive door at the end. Chunk a few Grenades up into the room overlooking the door to take care of the Pig Cops above, then enter the small door marked, "Authorized Personnel" with guns blazing. The Red Access Card is on the counter at the end of the room above. Get it, then push the switch on the left side of the window to open the door below. Jump down and walk into the courtyard. There are some Night Vision Goggles on your left, and a sunken control room on your right. Bomb the control room to rid it of the Pig Cops inside. A Holoduke is located in the control room. In the courtyard, stand on the lighted square on the left. Push the wall, and the square you’re on becomes a lift. At the top you’ll find a teleporter that will take you inside the rocket. Rescue the Babes inside, then use the Red Access Card on the panel nearby. Return to ground level, where the sunken control room now glows with red light. A switch is active on the panel inside. Flip it, and watch the rocket self-destruct.

5 The red lift door ahead is now open, take the lift down. Open up on the Assault Captains down here with your Submachine Guns. In the control room beyond, the row of monitors will slide up when you push on it, revealing three Atomic Healths. The switch to the right opens the door behind you. Enter it, and kill the Octabrains beyond. Jump into the slime, and punch the nuclear Auto-Destruct symbol at the end of the stream to exit the level.

Level 7 The Abyss

1 Jump into the slime again, and hug the left wall to keep from going over the edge. Blast the turret firing at you from high on the cliff wall. Jump across to the other side of the slime, and open the red door. Kill the Assault Captain inside, and get the Protective Boots. Return to the other ledge, and walk down the ramp to get the Shotgun below. Keep going off the edge, and drop down onto a Pistol Clip and a Stimpack. Time for some slime. Swim downstream, and hug the left wall. Jump just before you go over the edge, and you’ll land on a ledge on the left side of the chasm. If you fall over the edge, don’t worry. Jump upstream until you can climb out. Follow this ledge to the Blue Access Card and then return to the place where the slime falls begin. Jump across to the opposite ledge, and walk along it. Jump up when you come to a dead end, and grab the Night Vision Goggles near the two Stimpacks on the ground. Return to the slime beneath the start, and swim around the left side of the platform. Use the Blue Access Card and kill the Pig Cop hiding in the dark.

2 Dont be tempted to use your Night Vision Goggles to search the dark cave, you’ll need them later in the level. Hug the left wall, and grope around until you find some Pipe Bombs. Find your way out the other side, and blast the Pig Cops. Make the jump across to the tunnel on your left. Hug the left wall and carefully cross the suspension bridge ahead by walking across one of the ropes. There is a Portable Medkit above and to your right. Watch out for the Assault Captain who flies down behind you. Cross the bridge again, and stay to your left. Jump across the chasm ahead. As you approach the monument to the San Andreas Fault, all hell breaks loose. Stay put and get away from the edge!

3 If the earthquake didn’t knock you over the side, jump back across and stay to your left. Make the next jump, and exit through the dark cave near the Blue Access Panel. Swim downstream, and you’ll see that the landscape has changed dramatically. The steep downhill path between the two ledges will take you to a Stimpack and some Submachine Gun ammo. Walk back up, and head down the right-hand ledge. Keep an eye on the left wall of the chasm, and when you see the ledge with the Holoduke, Protective Boots, and Portable Medkit, jump across and collect the loot. The slime stream is a dead end here. Jump back onto the right bank and walk downhill. Drop down to the ground near the stream below. Splatter the Pig Cop hiding down there and enter the cave across the stream.

4 Climb the path ahead, and turn left when you reach an open area. There’s an Octabrain hiding in here, so kill it as you continue to climb. You’ll enter a room with a hug fire pit in the centre. Grab the Pipe Bombs on your left, then toss a few Grenades into the pit to kill the Assault Captains down there. Walk to the opening near the edge, and drop down to get some Atomic Health. Jump in the fire to teleport to the room above the suspension bridge. There are three Atomic Health here, and some Dum Dums on the opposite ledge. Once you’ve stocked up, walk through the flames to return to the pit. The red hands on the walls are switches. Push them, and one reveals a passageway. Don’t enter it before you push the other red hand, and get the Grenade Launcher it reveals. Follow the passageway, and jump down. After a fight with some Octabrains, push the red handprint on the wall to raise a staircase along the wall. At the top of the stairs, jump onto the ledge above and push that handprint as well. Quickly, jump all the way to the ground, and rush across to the opposite side of the room. The floor is rising, and if you miss it, you’ll have to use your Jetpack to fly up. Either way, push the handprint at the top, and turn around. A shrink ray outside just fired, and when you get hit, jump off the edge, and enter the tiny passage on your right.

5 The room you are in has a pool fed by a waterfall. Walk behind the waterfall, and get the Submachine Guns there. Leave the room by walking downhill—the stairs lead back to the landing you started from. A panel opens in the left wall, revealing some Protective Boots.

However, if you’re low on health, take the stairs, hug the right wall, and you’ll find a room with another red hand. Press the hand, and the wall slides back to reveal a Portable Medkit.

Work your way down the hill until you reach the lava lake. Swim out into it, fight off the Octabrains that appear. Walk right along the thin ledge to your right. Turn around, and you’ll see a waterfall behind you. Next to the falls, there are steps in the rock. Climb up until you are even with the top of the falls. Run across the slime, hugging the right wall to keep from slipping. There are two Stimpacks here if you need them. Climb the winding path up the cliff, fending off the Octabrains that live here. Eventually, you’ll find a rock out in the lava with a red hand on it. Jump to it, and push the hand.

If you need something near the start of the level, turn around and blast the wall behind the ledge you jumped from. The passage will lead you back to the area near the Blue Access Panel.

A rock panel on your left rises. Jump across to the lava stream behind it, and swim upstream. When it dead-ends, jump right to enter a small passage. At the end of the passage, you’ll see a woman dancing around a blazing fire. There are three Atomic Health near the fire. Grab all you need, return to the lava, and jump in.

6 Get some new firepower. Jump up and return down the path you took to get here, and follow it back down to the lava lake below. Follow the right-hand ledge and you’ll see another area where you can climb up. There are two Atomic Health in the tight upward passage. It gets darker the further you go, so switch on those Night Vision Goggles and continue climbing. You’ll come to a gap in the left wall that overlooks the alien spaceship. The path turns downward here. Without the Goggles it’s pitch dark in here. In a small open area there is a Babe to rescue. Help her, then continue following the passage down. Ahead, you’ll see an opening, and a Missile Launcher on the ledge beyond. Don’t rush out there—the ledge the Missile Launcher is on collapses as soon as you step onto it, and there is no way out of the lava below. The safest way to get it is to activate your Jetpack and fly across to it. Keep it on as you head up the ledge. This keeps you from having to make some tough jumps. Without a Jetpack, you’re going to have to perform flawlessly here. Jump across to the Missile Launcher and IMMEDIATELY jump again to the next ledge. Carefully execute all your jumps on the way up the hill.

7 Work your way up the ledge, picking off the Octabrains flying around. The spaceship door opens when you push on it, and the door beyond opens as you approach. Activate the switch on the right just past the door frame, and the end of the hallway slides up. Jump into the hole to face the Battlelord.

Level 8 Battlelord

Your showdown with the first of Duke Nukem 64’s Bosses, the Battlelord, takes place aboard the alien spaceship. Big, mean, and able to launch Grenades at will, the Battlelord is the toughest challenge you’ve faced so far. But don’t worry. Here you’ll find what you need to take the fight out of him and complete L.A. Meltdown.

1 You start on a platform in the centre of a round room. There are two alcoves in the outer walls of the room that contain Grenades and Submachine Gun ammo. Grab it all, then return to the centre of the room. Jump up to the ledge on one side of the platform, then turn around and jump across to the other side. Jump up, and retrieve the goodies there. Jump across to the other side, and then drop down to the floor. Open the green door by using the switch on the right. It’s showtime!

2 As you enter the Battlelord’s chamber, look up. The beam that crosses the ceiling is directly above a trip plate on the floor that will cause the green door to shut, sealing you in. If you don’t like the prospect of being locked in here with the Battlelord, jump or fly over it. The Battlelord appears on the far side of the lava trench that bisects the room. Use the trench for cover, and lob Grenades at him to soften him up a bit. When he crosses the trench, open fire with Dum Dum bullets. If you can hit him with 36 of them, you can take him down with your pistol. Chances are, you won’t be able to score 36 direct hits. Switch to your Submachine Guns, and keep on the move, jumping across the trench and circling and strafing around the Battlelord. There are three Atomic Health on his side of the lava trench, so use them wisely. Try not to get backed into a corner—a toe-to-toe battle with him is unwise. The Submachine Guns are the best choice for finishing him off quickly, since they have the fastest rate of fire. If your Jetpack has fuel, flying around the room will help you avoid his Grenades, but he will still be able to nail you with his Chaingun. Dropping Grenades on his head is also a fast way to obliterate him. Once you teach him who the real Battlelord is, the level ends and it’s on to the next episode, Lunar Apocalypse.

Level 9 Spaceport

The Spaceport is the gateway to the alien Lunar base. This level isn’t terribly complex, but you’ll run across a new enemy soon after you enter—ugly, submachine gun-wielding baddies called Enforcers.

1 As you enter the Spaceport, stand still. A passing spaceship will take a shot at you, and you need to stay where you’re at to avoid taking damage. Once the explosion dissipates, back into the teleporter behind you to find a Grenade Launcher and some Vitamin X. Jump in the teleporter again, and round the corner and take a left. You’ll see a video monitor in a small alcove. As you approach, a panel will lower in the opposite wall, revealing some Grenades. After you have them, jump down and walk to the left. You will see a red force field ahead. To turn it off, walk around the wall ahead. Blast the Assault Captains here, then push the switch on the right side of the window overlooking the force field. Before you leave, push on the middle section of the video panels to reveal a secret place with some Atomic Health and some Assault Captains, kill them then head for the force field.

2 Open the door at the bottom of the ramp ahead, and kill the Assault Captains across the room. Take the ramp behind them, and open the door at the bottom. Cross the room, and enter the door on your right (the other door is an in-operative elevator). You’ll find the Blue Access Card on some crates, as well as your first Enforcer. Smack him around, then blow out the air vent behind him. This vent leads to some Pipe Bombs. Get them, then return to the Enforcer room. Collect the Scuba Gear, and push on the gray panel on the right side of the room. Dive into the water behind it, and retrieve the Submachine Gun ammo below. Return to the locked elevator room, and walk along the windows until you see a lift ahead in a small alcove. Ride it up, and clear the room. Use the Blue Access Card to unlock the elevator door. Jump into the elevator, and activate it.

3 The room ahead appears empty as you leave the elevator, but Enforcers will start dropping in like flies. Kill them, then use the crates to jump into the alcove near the elevator and get the Armour there. Fly along the wall, and turn off the Jetpack once you’re inside the other alcove. Grab the Atomic Health, and quickly jump down and take the elevator down. Turn left, and enter the secret room in the corner to get two more Atomic Health. Take the elevator back up.

4 Blast the gas canisters along the wall to smash a hole in the busted elevator. Hit the switch beyond, and turn around to fight off the Enforcers who come to investigate. Stay left as you leave the dead elevator, and walk up the ramp. On your right are four switches. De-activate the one that’s green, and push the second from the right. You should hear a beep, and the force field in the centre of the room below should be gone. Walk down to it, and jump in the pit it was protecting. Underwater you’ll find the Red Access Card and a Grenade Launcher.

5 After you surface, use your Jetpack and fly all the way to the top of the shaft. Kill the Enforcer on guard duty, and grab the Atomic Health and Missile Launcher he was guarding. Fly back down to the room with the four switches. Open the blue door, and enter the hallway. On your left is a blown-out vent. Enter it, and use it like a lift. Below, you’ll find a Babe to rescue, and a Shrinker/Expander. There is a tunnel out of the lift area that will bring you out in the room with four switches. Re-enter the hall behind the blue door, and use the Red Access Card on the pad to your right. Exit through the red doors ahead.

Level 10 Incubator

1 Before you leave the shuttle you arrived in, open the gray panel on your left and get the Shotgun. Open the doors, and quickly retreat. Sentry Drone’s outside will attack you. Fire at them as you back away, and try to detonate them before they hityou. If you’re feeling brave, stand just inside the doors, and shut them just before the Drones hit you.

2 Open the doors at the end of the hall, and shoot the Troopers firing at you from an alcove. Push the switch on the wall to open the windows and turn on the lights. Drones will again attack, so get moving and make them miss. Jump into the alcove above and get the Atomic Health. Jump down and open the panel near the door to find some Night Vision Goggles. A similar panel across the room is hiding Pipe Bombs, and a secret passage behind them that leads behind the video screens. Collect the Shotgun Shells and Armour back here, and jump down into the room again. Take the hallway near the door, and hug the right wall. The Earth Defense Forces sign hides a Portable Medkit. Get it, then take the right-hand fork ahead.

3 The wall at the top of the landing will lower as you approach. Open the Armoury on your left, and get the new weapon—Laser Trip Bombs—inside. To the right of the Armoury, push on the panels to reveal a room with a Holoduke and another new weapon—a Plasma Cannon. Directly across the room outside is a doorway. Enter, and clear out the room beyond. There are two Atomic Health and some Submachine Guns on the platform with the spinning triangles. Watch out for the Sentry Drone in here—he’s tough to see in the dark. There is some SMG ammo behind the panels here. Activate the switch near the video screen across from the spinning triangles to remove the force field below.

4 The hall behind the ex-force field contains another Armoury. Before you open it, toss a few Grenades or fire some missiles down the halls to the left and right to take care of some of the Protozoid Slimers, Octabrains, and Drones lurking in the dark. Take the left hallway, and open the door at the end. At the bottom of this passage is the Yellow Access Card. Get it, return to the Armoury, and get the goodies inside. The Yellow Access Panel is at the end of the other hall. Unlock the door, and head inside. Kill the Enforcer inside, and shoot the switch across from the windows. Use the window to snipe and destroy some of the eggs and Slimers below, then leave the room.

5 Head for the door where you found the Yellow Access Card. Jump up to reach the new ledge above, and get the Shotgun Shells. Lob a few Grenades down the spillway ahead to clear out the Slimers and Octabrains below, then jump in. There’s a panel below that hides some Vitamin X and a Portable Medkit if you need them. Keep clearing out the Slimers in the water from here, then dive in when it seems calm. Swim to your right, and along the wall. There’s an opening here that leads up to a Missile Launcher guarded by an Octabrain. Grab it, surface, then dive again. Continue along the wall to the next opening, where you’ll find some Missiles. Surface, and jump onto the ledge opposite the spillway. Rescue the Babe here, then push the round switch. Immediately fire some Grenades into the area revealed on your right, and keep pounding it to kill all the Slimers and Octabrains inside. Rescue all the Babes in here, then climb the ledge on the other side. Save the Babe at the top, then hug the right wall to find two more Babes and a Shrinker/Expander. Use the Babe pods for cover from the Octabrains lurking here—they can’t shoot through them.

6 Finish rescuing the Babes, then activate your Jetpack and fly to the ledge in the upper right corner of the room. Open the panel there to get some Pipe Bombs. Drop down and then enter the area where you obliterated the Slimers and Octabrains a few minutes ago. Open the red door, and blast the Octabrains inside. Bash the symbol to exit.

Level 11 Warp Factor

Here you’ll also meet an Assault Commander for the first time—not a pleasant experience, and remember the Battlelord you killed at the end of Episode One? Well, they’ve cloned him, and he’s hiding out in here.

1 Push on the dark panel to ride the lift. Before you step out, bounce some Grenades off the door in front of you at an angle. This will kill the Drones waiting to your right and left. Open the door ahead. On the wall to your right there is a secret panel that hides a Portable Medkit. Get it, and activate the switch on the wall ahead to open a secret wall. Behind it are several Drones and a portable Medkit. The door to your left as you leave this area opens on a sloping room overlooking the reactor core. Kill the Assault Captains here, and get the Pistol and SMG ammo on the floor. Back in the room outside, turn the corner to your right, and open the Armoury to get some Shotgun Shells and Grenades. The light colored panel to the left of the Armoury hides a Babe. Open it and rescue her. Head for the lift on this side of the room (turn right as you face the outer door) and ride it down.

2 An Assault Captain flies up to greet you as the elevator reaches the bottom. Once he’s gone, follow the path to the left and grab the Atomic Health on the ground. You may notice some more Atomic Health on the other side of the wall ahead. Ignore it—you can’t reach it from here. Veer to your right, and crouch down to get the Blue Access Card. Get the Shotgun located nearby, and then head for the spinning pillar. On the back side, there are some Laser Tripbombs. Get them, then head for the lift and ride it up.

3 Cross the room and step into the lift, but stand near the right side. Face left, then activate the elevator. At the bottom of the shaft, laser tripwires appear across the opening opposite you. An Enforcer is headed your way, and unless you shoot him first he will spring the trap. To avoid getting burned, lob a Grenade his way as you activate the lift again. You should be out of harm’s way before the tripbombs blow. Ride back down, and turn right at the bottom of the ramp. Use the Blue Access Card, and ride the lift behind the door. You’ll emerge in a red tunnel, which is one of the Warp engine pods. Be careful of Drones in here. Turn left, and enter the small room beyond. Clear the room, and get the Missiles here. Head for the other end of the hall, Enforcers wait beyond the first door, and a Drone is beyond the second. Continue to the end of the room, and press the switch on your right. This causes the small shuttle to arrive and the doors will open. Enter, and hit either switch inside to move the shuttle across to the other Warp engine pod. Fight your way through this pod, until you come to an area with a heavily protected Yellow Access Card on your left. There’s a console with three lock buttons nearby. Press the middle one, then get the Access Card. Continue to the end of the pod and clear out the room beyond the doors. Grab the Grenade Launcher and rescue the Babe here, then leave the room. On your right is a lift that will take you down to the Atomic Healths you couldn’t reach from the other lift. Get them, return to the shuttle, and go back to the other pod.

4 Go down the lift, and open the door on your right. Immediately to your left is a small command console. Open the back wall to reveal a secret area and some Dum Dums. Continue down the corridor, taking care to run past the openings on your left. If you’re feeling lucky, peek through one of them and take on the Assault Commanders inside. You’ll also need to stay alert because a Battlelord patrols the area. Use your Submachine Guns to make quick work of him, and try stay out of his way until he’s dead. Unlock the Yellow Access door, and take the escalator.

5 Open the large door at the top of the escalator, then open the door ahead to get a Missile Launcher. Turn right as you leave the room. There is a Medkit behind the Red Cross panel. Walk past the panel away from the escalator, and you’ll find a wall that slides up. High on the wall in this alcove there is a switch. Shoot it, and hustle around past the room that had the Missile Launcher. A panel on the central structure to your right has opened, giving you access to a cool secret place. Ride the lift inside up to the Bridge, and collect the goodies lying around. Enter the Captain’s Ready Room, and from behind the desk, push on the laptop computer. A wall slides up to reveal the Really Ready Room. Grab the Missile Launcher and Shrinker/Expander inside, and take the lift back down.

6 Once you’re out of the secret area, enter either door marked Authorized Personnel. There is a secret panel on the wall near one of them that is hiding some Explosive Shotgun Shells. On the other wall is a switch that will de-activate the force field near the reactor core. Leave the control room, and walk around the centre structure until you see a ramp leading up. Take it, and push the switch here to open the windows. If you push on the map here, it rises and you can jump down into the control room you just left. Jump left from the top of the ramp near the globe under glass, and then push on the wall of the ramp to reveal some Vitamin X.

7 Go down the escalator, and enter the central area to Duke it out with any Assault Commanders hovering about. Open the massive door here, and wait for the spinning core beyond to rotate until you can see the lift in the middle. Run for it, and ride the lift down. Use your new Explosive Shotgun Shells to kill the Enforcers here all over the place, then exit.

Level 12 Fusion Station

1 Open the door ahead, grab the Night Vision Goggles, and rescue the Babe on your left. Behind the pod she was trapped in is a Shotgun. Get it, then continue down the corridor. You will pass through a dark area, and beyond you’ll find a crowded room with a Missile Launcher at the end. As you get the Launcher, a pillar rises and reveals some Atomic Health. Face the place where the Missile Launcher was, and activate the door switch on the wall. Kill the Trooper beyond, and open the next set of doors.

2 Blast the laser turrets across the bridge (use your Submachine Guns to make quick work of them), and use the lift between them. Kill the Enforcer at the bottom. Walk around the room until you reach another set of doors. Climb the ledge on your right, and push on the back wall. A secret passage opens, and the passage will take you to a small, red room. Before you enter, jump up to the left of the end of the tunnel, and get the Grenades there. Grab the two Atomic Health, activate the switch on the wall opposite the narrow tunnel, and leave the passage. Enforcers will swarm from the elevator you opened with the switch. Finish them off, then carefully jump in the pistons and get the items inside. Behind one of the pistons is a secret room. Press on the wall here to reveal some Sub Machine Gun ammo.

3 The elevator the Enforcers used will take you upstairs to a small room with a pool in the centre. The spinning blades in it will crush you if you’re not careful. Make your way to the ledge on your left, where you’ll hear a secret door being triggered. Run across the pool, jumping over the blades, and you should be able to catch the door before it closes and get a Plasma Cannon and some ammo for it. Dive in the pool, and activate the switch in the small alcove below. Swim with the blades’ direction to avoid being crushed. There are some Pipe Bombs down here. Climb out of the water, and leave the room through the elevator door you’ve opened.

4 Step to the edge, and shoot the switch across from you. The landing you’re on will move across the chasm. Enter the green door and activate your Night Vision Goggles so you can see all the enimies lurking here. To the right of the window slit there’s a secret panel that reveals some Armour. Get it then open the other green door and work your way down the corridor. The walls blow up, and several Enforcers appear. Back up and finish them off with a few Missiles. One of the blown-out places on the wall leads to a secret area. Jump into it, and climb up. Jump onto the beam over the corridor, and toss a Pipe Bomb to blow out the vent ahead. Back up and toss a Grenade inside to take care of the eggs and Slimers hiding out in there. Enter the duct, and follow it until you come to some Atomic Health and Laser Tripbombs. Get back in the air duct, and toss a Grenade into the alcove you just left. The right wall will blow out, revealing some Grenades.

5 Jump down and open the door at the end of the hall. Kill the Enforcer guarding the bridge, then open the next door and do the same. Take the lift ahead, and arrave at a dark area. This is where you’ll have your first encounter with an Alien Beast. Use your Night Vision Goggles. These monsters prefer to gut you at close range. Use Dum Dums to destroy him, he’s too fast to run away from once he’s gotten in your face. The switch on the wall to your right opens the door along the same wall. Activate it, then enter the door. Watch out for Drones ahead, use your Submachine Guns on them. You should also blast the two alcoves that contain Pig Cops and Troopers shooting at you. Once the smoke clears, ready your pistol and fire at the hand switch on the other ledge. Inside, you’ll have to fight several more Assault Captains and Enforcers. Get the goodies from the two lava-filled alcoves, and then destroy the fusion reactor in the middle of the room. An Assault Commander appears, kill him then use the elevator thats been revealed.

6 The easiest way to cross the chasm ahead is to use your Jetpack and fly across. As soon as you hit the switch over there, fly out over the chasm and pummel the entry with Missiles to kill the Assault Commanders inside. When there’s nothing left standing, stand on the ledge and throw some Grenades inside to kill the Drones waiting for you. Rescue the two Babes, then hit the to exit.

Level 13 Occupied Territory

1 Grab the Shotgun and Shotgun Shells in the start area. Push the switch near the computer screens to open the doors. Blast the eggs beyond, then snipe at the aliens on the right. There are are some Submachine Guns around here, and some armour in the window slit. Enter the room and push the switch between the windows to raise the large metal doors. Snipe the aliens from the safety of the room, then hug the right-hand wall, and drop down to get the Atomic Health tucked away in the door channel. Open the door at the end of the hall, and get ready for the Enforcers and an Assault Commander hiding in the dark.

2 As you enter the room, look up and to your left before you walk across the now lit room. There is a dark alcove high on the wall with several Drones inside.that opens when you reach the big door on the far side of the roomUse Grenades to take them out before they get a chance to target you. Jetpack up and enter the alcove to replenish your Grenade supply, and get some more Atomic Health. Now it’s safe to cross the room. Grab the Night Vision Goggles and SMG ammo at the top of the ramp, and open the door. Retreat down the ramp, and wipe out the Assault Captains in the room beyond.

3 Exit through the other door, and fight off the swarm of flying Assault Captains that attack. There is some Vitamin X near the ramp that will help you put some distance between you and them so you can finish them off easily. Watch out for those ever-present Drones and Enforcers, and work your way around the other perimeter. When the entire area is clear, take a peek inside the vine-covered wall. Smash the eggs and Slimers inside to a pulp, then rescue the Babe in the corner. Walk up the conveyor belt and watch out for the indestructible laser at the far end. Grab the Red Access Card, Missile Launcher and Night Vision Goggles from the large room after you’ve dispensed with the Assault Commanders and Slimers inside.

4 Return through the vine wall and unlock the Red Access door. Before you enter it, get ready. Beyond the door are Battlelords. Your best bet here is to lure them out one by one. Open the door and fire several Missiles dead ahead to try and damage the one directly in front of you. If you’re lucky, the others won’t open fire on you until the middle Battlelord bites the dust. Now, use the circular nature of the room outside to blast the remaining Battlelords from around corners. Stick to Missiles, or Submachine Guns to get the job done. If you get cornered, you’re dead meat, so stay on the move until you finish them off. Once the carnage is over, get the Blue Access Card in the room behind the Red Access door. Open the panel to the right of the Blue Access Card to reveal a secret area with some Laser Tripbombs and Atomic Health.

5 Unlock the Blue door, and use the gaps in the panels on your right to snipe at the Enforcers on the other side. On the console at the end of the panels, activate the red switch. A new door is open across from the vine wall outside. Head for it, but as you enter, be on the lookout for Enforcers inside. Walk up either ramp, and get ready for a showdown with two more Battlelords. Activate the switch on the wall, and start pumping Missiles through the opening at the two Battlelords who appear. Use the two ramps as cover, and strafe through the room from side-to-side as you shoot. Eventually you’ll wear them down. Cross to the ledge with the hologram floating above it, and hit the switch on the wall to reveal the exit. Drag yourself into the exit, and head for the next level.

Level 14 Tiberius Station

1 Kill the Protozoid Slimers sharing your entry point with you, and then shoot out the vent over the door so you can climb out. In the control room beyond, activate both switches near the window to open a door below, and get the Pipe Bombs on the floor. There are two Armoury doors in the room below that are opened by switches along the ledge outside the room. Take either ramp down, clearing the room of Assault Captains Troopers as you go. Each switch opens the opposite door, so head for the ledge to your right, and activate the switch near the window. Jump through the window and run across to the open Armoury door on the left side of the room. There are several Slimers inside, so toss a Grenade or Pipe Bomb in there before you enter. Once the room is empty, get the Armour located on the back wall, then push on the wall in the middle of the back wall to reveal a secret place with a Portable Medkit inside. Grab it, and open the door. Walk to the other ledge, and activate that switch to open the other Armoury door. Again, you’ll want to clear the room of Slimers before you enter. This room contains a Shrinker/Expander and a decent supply of ammunition for your Submachine Guns, as well as some Dum Dums and Shotgun Shells. Grab it all, then enter the centre door that leads to the rest of the station.

2 This section of Tiberius Station contains several hidden passages. As you cross the threshold, look to your right for a cracked wall panel. Blast it, and you’ll get some Shotgun Shells and access to a network of air ducts within the walls. Follow the ducts until you reach an area with A3 written on the wall. If you turn left, you’ll be back near the start. Turn right, and you’ll run into more Slimers. Beyond them, there’s an open vent on your right. Jump down and grab the Blue Access Card once you’ve secured the room.

You can also get the Blue Access Card without climbing through the ducts. Instead of entering the blasted wall panel, walk down the corridor and enter the darkened area on your left. Ride one of the lifts up to access the Blue Access Card.

Activate the switch near the window. Behind the gray panel near the broken video screen is a Holoduke and, nearby, a Shotgun. Across the room is another panel that hides a Medkit. Head for the water fountain between the lifts. The wall across from the fountain hides Pipe Bombs. Walk into the corridor outside. Push on the wall to the left of the door across the hall, and reveal a secret area that contains an Enforcer, some Night Vision Goggles, Vitamin X, and Sub Machine Gun Ammo. You can open the door itself from the control room above and get a babe & missile launcher among. Leave the room and open the door at the end of the corridor to your right.

3 There are two Drones on the other side of the door, so shut the door when they get too close for comfort, and they’ll detonate on the other side. Re-open the door and bounce a few Grenades off the wall ahead so that they go around the corner. There are several Enforcers hiding there, and the Grenades should take care of them. Activate your Jetpack, and fly into the open air duct near the corner. Inside, you’ll find two Plasma Packs and a Medkit. Once you have them, position yourself so you can see out the vent, and turn off the Jetpack. The floor here is a touchplate that activates a secret door in the corner across from you. Re-activate the Jetpack and quickly fly over to it. Get the Grenade Launcher insidethe hit the switch on the wall inside, and exit through the left opening.

4 Open fire on the Enforcers ahead, then turn left and rescue the Babe near the door on your left. Octabrains prowl the air above the pool. Follow the corridor and jump down at the end. The switch overlooking the pool will bring several side panels together in the middle to form a bridge over the pool. Once you’ve activated it, dive into the pool of slime. Stay on the surface and swim to the middle of the wall on your left. Pushing on the wall reveals a secret area with two Atomic Health inside. Leave this room, and swim around the bridge outside to repeat the same procedure on the other side to find another secret area, this time with Shotgun Shells inside. Dive under the slime, and find the Red Access Card under the ledge to your left at the end of the bridge.

5 Once you’ve fought off the Octabrains down here, swim around to the other end of the bridge and get the Medkit there. To get back to the upper level, activate the lift on the side of the pool opposite from where you started and ride it up. On your right are some Protective Boots. Use the Blue Access Card and open the door. Blast the gas canisters at the end of the hall on your right, and get the Grenade Launcher and Sub Machine Gun ammo revealed by the explosion. Down the hall you’ll find a lavatory with several Assault Captains and some more ammo and a few Laser Tripbombs inside. Clear the room, then return through the Blue Access door. Cross the bridge and ride up the lift. As you reach the top, fire a Grenade or Missile at the Enforcer waiting for you, and a portion of the wall on your left will blow up, revealing a Jetpack, you may have got this a;ready as the wall can be blown up from the otherside. Now open the door at the end of the corridor that is near the Babe you rescued earlier.

6. Cross the bridge ahead, and unlock the door. Behind it, you’ll see a raging fire in a near-pitch black room. The Battlelord and Octabrains are in here. Use the column in the centre of the room for cover. Rescue the two Babes while you’re avoiding him so you can maneuver better. Once you finish him off, get the Submachine Guns below and jump through the fire toward the centre column The air duct beyond contains a few Slimers. Stomp them and jump up when the duct dead-ends to reach a glowing red section of air duct. Blow out the air vent on your left, and drop down into the Exit room beyond. Kill the Enforcer guarding the room, and punch the symbol to exit.

Level 15 Lunar Reactor

1 Open the door ahead and blast the alien loitering in the hall. Open the gray panel on your left, and grab the Shotgun and Night Vision Goggles inside. Round the corner, preparing yourself to face a fire-fight from Enforcers Troopers and a Drone in the intersection. Once the smoke clears, explore the air ducts high on the wall just outside the hall you started from. Continue walking through the air duct, and turn right at the 03 on the wall. Duck down to get some Atomic Health and jump back out to the room below.

2 Open the door in the 04 hallway and open fire immediately on the Assault Commanders beyond. Around the corner is a crowded lavatory, kill the aliens and collect the Missiles near the urinals. In an air duct behind the second stall from the left that leads to some Missiles. The third stall has the Blue Access Card inside. Return to the intersection outside, and open the Blue Access door at the end of hall 02.

3 Unlocking the Blue Access door also opened a passage in the air duct overhead that leads behind the door. Open the door, firing on the Slimers in the hall. There is a Battlelord near the Crew Quarters, retreat if you need to and use your Dum Dums and Missiles effectively. Inside the Crew Quarters, watch for the two Drones inside then Blast the wall ahead on your left and step through. Clear out the area and grab the Plasma Packs at the other end of the room. The locker on the right as you walk out of the room contains some Armour. On the other side of the centre partition is another locker, this one contains Laser Tripbombs. Get the Submachine Guns in the alcove along the wall and kill the aliens on this side of the partition.

4 Turn left and get the Pipe Bombs and Pistol Clip in the barracks before jumping into the red shaft. Hit the switch on the wall below, and the two crushers will slide apart briefly. As they do, hurry across to the alcove on your right. The crushers will close again, trapping you behind them. Before you re-open them, swim across and push on the corner ahead and to your left to reveal some Atomic Health. Stand in the alcove again, and hit the switch so you can swim across to the alcove you started from. Hit the switch here again, and head for the vent across from you. BE CAREFUL! If the vent cover is gone on the other end of the vent, you’ll fall if you run through too fast. Shoot open the vent cover (if it’s still there) and step out onto the ledge. Slide left and kill the Assault Commander Trooper on the ledge. Shoot the auto-turret on the wall opposite your position, and push on the last panel on your left and get the Medkit inside.

5 The pit below you is very deep. Activate your Jetpack and fly down to the bottom. You can make the jump across, although you should take some Vitamin x first. Save all the Babes down here, get the Jetpack and fly back up. On the way up you’ll see a cave well below the air duct that crosses the pit. Inside you’ll find a smaller cave with a Shrinker/Expander inside. Take care of the Octabrains that come to investigate, and fly back out over the cavern. There’s a teleport in the rear wall, too. On the opposite wall, there is another small cave a bit higher up. Inside are some Atomic Health, Shotgun Shells, and Grenades. Once you’re done collecting all the goodies, fly to the blue ledge, bombarding it with Missiles as you approach.

6 On your left as you enter the corridor beyond the ledge you’ll find the Yellow Access Card. Get it and fire missiles down the hall to take care of the crowd of Assault Captains at the end. DO NOT WALK DOWN THIS CORRIDOR or an earthquake will drop the ceiling on you. You can trigger this and retreat, it crushes the bad guys and opens a way through. Look for the crack in the floor, going beyond it starts the quake. If you want to explore the corridor, use your Jetpack to fly above the floor to avoid triggering the earthquake. Fly back out over the pit, and enter the air duct. One end of the air duct leads to a dead end with a Medikit. The other will bring you out on a ledge over some slime. Octabrains will attack as soon as you appear. Grab the Plasma Cannon to your right and kill them. Hurry down the slime channel and fit yourself into one of the gaps in the cog ahead. Once you’re in one, lean toward the outer wall, and jump into the tunnel you come to. Kill the aliens at the end, and get the Red Access Card. Push on the bank of computers to the right of the Card, and you’ll find a secret with a Holoduke and two Plasma Packs. The computer bank on the other end of the room is a walk-through wall with a Babe behind it. Save her, then return to the other side of the cog. Take the stairs on your left and kill the alien guarding the Red Access door. Unlock it and return to the four-way intersection near the start.

7 An Assault Commander has made his way to this part of the level. After he’s dead, open the Re-actor Core door and Duke it out with the Battlelord. There are two sets of stairs on your right. Go downstairs first. As you open the door at the bottom, turn on your Goggles and clear the Reactor Core of aliens. Cross to the opposite side of the room, get the Grenade Launcher and activate the switches. Once the room is empty, pump Missiles into the Core until it explodes. An Assault Commander flies out, kill him, then jump up to the two ledges on the sides of the pool. The one on the left of the Exit contains Laser Tripbombs and Missiles, while the other ledge contains Grenades. Before you exit, go back up the stairs and take the upper set this time. Clear out the landing, and pick up any of the items you need. Now head back down for the Exit.

8 Run to the end of the hall to avoid the massive explosion that’ll rock the corridor as you enter. The blast knocks holes in the wall, but none of them have items inside. Kill the two Assault Commanders out here, then open the Exit door and blast the one inside. You’re halfway home, Duke! Fifteen levels down, 15 to go. Exit to start the last half of your mission.

Level 16 Dark Side

1 The corridor beyond the door near the start area is empty. Collect the Pistol on your right, then fire a Missile or some Grenades into the area on your left up ahead. Any aliens who survive will come after you. Rescue the Babe in the round area that overlooks the Moon surface, and head for the lift you saw to your right as you entered. Ride it down to access the lunar subway system. Kill the aliens loitering below, and open the door ahead. Start shooting and take out the Drone and Enforcer in the corridor before they get closer. There are Enforcers in the halls to your left and right, so lure them out and kill them. At the end of the hall, you’ll find a Missile Launcher. Push on the map behind it to reveal a secret area with two Atomic Health inside.

2 Turn around and take a right at the intersection to enter the Alpha Transport area. You’ll find more Assault Captains and Pipe Bombs here. Push the button on the corner between the windows to call the Transport. When it arrives, it’s occupied with several Assault Captains. Shoot them as they come out, or go in after them. Inside the Transport, push the switch, and it will take you to the other end of the line. More Assault Captains and some Medkits are located on the landing you arrive at. Open the gray panel in the wall to reveal two Plasma Packs. Load up and enter the Alpha terminal.

3 Kill the Enforcers in the tunnel ahead, and enter the room beyond. The floor will re-arrange itself as you enter, so step back into the hall to ride it out. Fight off the aliens that appear, and get the Atomic Health along the right-hand wall. At the back of a new cave on your left are some Submachine Guns and a Medkit. Cross the room to the opposite door and enter. Use Grenades to vaporize the Enforcers and Assault Captains Troopers in the two rooms beyond. Once all is clear, enter the far right-hand room (the one with two water tanks at the end). You’ll find a Portable Medkit, and a Holoduke here. Press on the gray panel on your right to reveal a secret passage. Kill the aliens beyond and rescue the Babe here. Jump down at the end of the corridor, and open the gray panel. You’ll find yourself in the other room (it was on your far left as you entered from the earthquake room).

4 Jump on the conveyor belt on your left, and you’ll find yourself approaching certain death in the form of two crushers ahead. To get through here, control your rate of movement by retreating when neccessary until you can time it so that you are up against the first crusher as it comes down. Keep pushing forward, and as you clear it, the other will also be down. Run forward as it rises to escape unscathed. Beyond them you’ll drop into a dark slime pool surrounded by Octabrains, both above and under the slime. Turn on your Night Vision Goggles, kill them, and pick up a Shrinker/Expander, a Medkit and some Pipe Bombs underwater. The wall to the right of the alcove with the red floor is a lift. Activate it and open the door above. Rescue the Babes ahead, and ger the Yellow Access Card from the console between them. As you turn around, Slimers ooze from the wall on your right. Obliterate them, and then blow away the aliens who come to lend a hand. Enter the open door on your left which will bring you back to the earthquake room beyond the blue door. Fight your way across (explosive Shotgun Shells work great here) and enter the Transporter to return to the main terminal.

5 Back in the main terminal you’ll be able to open the Beta Terminal door. However an Assault Commander has come out to play. Use the four halls as cover, and permanently ground him. Call the Transport by entering the Beta Terminal and pushing the switch between the windows. As you head down the line, stand in the doorway holding the forward and jump buttons down. You should jump into a hole in the wall where you’ll find two Atomic Health guarded by Assault Captains. Enter the teleporter once you’re done here to go to the end of the line. You’ll have to call the Transport again, since you’re back where you started. Ride it all the way this time, raise the gray panel near the Transport to find some Armour. Walk down the corridor and kill the Drones and Enforcers at the end. Open the door on your left, and turn left, blasting the Assault Captains behind the desk. Get the Plasma Packs. Rescue the Babe near the corner door, and then open the door on your left. Inside are a few Slimers and an Enforcer guarding a Grenade Launcher, a Medkit and some Shotgun Shells. Use the switch behind the desk to open the corner airlock door.

6 Enter the airlock, then open the outer airlock door. Start running along the right hand wall as soon as you leave the airlock. Drones are coming your way. Hurry down the wall and kill the Assault Captain, then use the lift to escape the Drone invasion. Kill the Enforcer coming down the ramp toward you, then wipe out the Captains above. Grab the Missile Launcher here and then push the switch near the blue column of light. The column will dissipate, revealing some Atomic Health. If you’re feeling tough, drop down the hole in the middle of the room and take the hit as you crash to the ground below. Otherwise, go back down the ramp and use the lift.

7 Pop some Vitamin X and head for the dark slit in the far crater wall. As you get near it, veer a little right to find the opening to a short path that leads to the cavern beyond. There’s a Battlelord between you and the door. This one is a bit tricky to take out, since all those Drones are heading your way. Explosive Shotgun Shells or Dum Dums are your best bet for putting him down. Keep moving back and forth so the Drones can’t easily hit you. After you kill the Battlelord head for the cavern and kill the Assault Commanders and Assault Captain that come out to meet you. If you’re up to it, turn around and use the narrow canyon here to pick off those Drones one by one.

8 Activate your Goggles and navigate the winding cavern. The room at the end contains several aliens, so clear ’em out. There are some Pipe Bombs along one wall, then face the Monolith in the centre of the cave. If you have Goggles active, you’ll see a sign on the crate near the wall that tells you to jump into the Monolith. Jump into it, and you’ll be teleported to another area. Get the Shrinker/Expander and shrink the Octabrains coming your way. Rescue the babe and fire a Grenade high on the wall near the right side of the slime trench, and a section of the wall will explode. Jump into the hole, and you’ll find another babe and the secret Exit to Lunatic Fringe, this episode’s secret level.

Level 17 (Secret Level) Lunatic Fringe

1 Start shooting as soon as you appear in Lunatic Fringe. You’re surrounded by Enforcers. Use your Submachine Guns or Dum Dums to clear a path through them. Once you’ve cleared the landing, save the two Babes in the barred niches, and continue around the ledge to your right. Assault Captains will fly over, so try to take them out from a distance as you circle the room. In the trench below there are a few more bad guys. Kill them all out, grab all the goodies in the trench, and then return to the panel near the start. Don’t forget to open the two panels in the trench near the start. They hide Armour and an Expander Crystal.

2 If you took a look at the map as you walked around you probably noticed something strange. There is only one large ledge with two switches flanked by Babes shown on the map, yet you saw two! not seeing double—well, maybe you are. This is actually the same ledge both times, but with a different background panel and surrounding textures. The panel that looks like the map of the USA is the fake one. Now that you have some breathing room, rescue the Babes (you can reach them through the bars) on "both" ledges. Shoot the switches near the Babes with your pistol after you rescue them. This opens several panels in the central structure.

3 There is at least one Battlelord waiting for you inside the central structure. There are also some Enforcers and Assault Captains inside as well. Lure them out and use Missiles, Dum Dums and Submachine Gun fire to whittle them down. Now that you’ve finished them off, you can collect the rest of the items inside at your leisure. From the ledge with the panel of the US map behind it, jump across and get the Grenade Launcher. From this ledge, jump across to the glowing green central column and collect the Plasma Packs and Explosive Shotgun Shells there. There are two Atomic Health behind you, and there is a ledge below you that has a Shrinker/Expander on it. One other alcove in the outer wall contains an Atomic Health.

4 To exit the level, return to the ledge with the map panel of the US behind it. Jump across to the ledge inside the central structure. On the wall to your right, there is a hand switch. Push it, then take a look out the window nearby. You should see that a panel has opened, and a shrink ray is firing from it. At the risk of totally disorienting yourself, look out the opening between the two windows, and you’ll see the map of the US looking just as it did before you jumped over. Look out the other window, and you’ll see the correct panel, shrink ray and all. Jump out either window (don’t exit via the central one—you won’t be able to reach the Exit) and hop onto the ledge. When the shrink ray hits you, enter the small opening and bash the Exit switch to leave.

Level 18 Dreadnaught

1 The underwater pool you start in is filled with Octabrains. Kill them, then enter the tunnel near the one you started in to find some Explosive Shotgun Shells. A force field in here keeps you from going deeper into the tunnel. Return to the main pool and push the red sigil on the wall. The centre structure opens to reveal some Atomic Health. Grab it, and surface.

2 You will met by Assault Captains as you surface, shoot any nearby, then hug the red pool wall to find a secret passage that leads to some more Atomic Health, Armour, and Plasma Packs. Jump out of the pool and finish off the aliens. Walk around the room until you see a panel with a space scene on it. The four round irises are switches. From left to right as you face them, activate switches one, three, and four. This raises the pillar in the centre of the room. Shoot the mini-reactor revealed, then jump across to the pillar. A secret door opens in a pillar nearby, so jump down and enter to get a Grenade Launcher. To the right of the switches you activated is a door with a hand switch beside it. Activate the hand switch to open the door.

You can blow out the air vent located nearby, and access the central shaft, but there isn’t much point yet. You won’t be able to reach the rest of the level, and if you fall in, you’ll be taken to the Overlord without completing this level. However, this might be a good tactic to use if you are fully loaded with items and ammo, allowing you to arrive for your battle with the Overlord ready to go.

3 As you follow the hall beyond the door you opened, you’ll meet a Battlelord. In the battle with him, you’ll probably blow up the two bombs near the wall, and reveal a Portable Medkit inside the corner. Enter the door at the end of the hall, and fight off the Alien Beast that attacks as you enter. Work your way down to the stream. Dive in and submerge. Below you’ll find another Alien Beast, some Octabrains, a Medkit and a Holoduke. The underwater tunnel leads back to the force field near the start. Get the SMG ammo here, and surface again.

4 Walk up the ramp. As you make the first turn, kill the Enforcers waiting for you, then blow a hole in the left-hand wall to reveal some Pipe Bombs. Continue up the ramp. The area across from you is infested with eggs and Slimers, and there are probably some Assault Captains flying around. Attack everything with Missiles or Grenades, and hug the right wall as you jump down and walk across the stream. Rescue the Babe in the corner, then blow out the air vent ahead. Kill the Enforcer inside, and you’ll see a force field beyond. Continue up the ramp, blasting the Octabrain, Enforcer, and the Slimers at the top. In the corner behind the grisly body parts hanging from the ceiling, flip the switch. Collect the Night Vision Goggles and Shrinker Crystal here, then return and climb into the blown-out vent below.

5 The force field you saw before is gone now. Use the tunnel to pick off the Octabrains in the shaft beyond as they fly by. If you don’t have a Jetpack, jump onto the spinning blades and get the Atomic Health, then jump into the shaft to head for Overlord. If you do have a Jetpack, explore a bit before leaving. The side tunnel on your left holds some Pipe Bombs (this is the tunnel that leads to the vent near the start pool), and the one on your right has three Enforcers inside. Kill them, and blast the vent at the end to drop into a room full of Assault Captains. Retreat and kill them with a Grenade, then drop into the room. There is some Armour, a Pistol Clip, Night Vision Goggles, and a Medkit here. The door leads back to the start pool. Fly back down the vent, and take the leap into the shaft to meet the Overlord.

If you don’t have a Jetpack, try making the jumps to the side tunnels anyway—it’s worth the effort.

Level 19 Overlord

1 The eggs surrounding you as you start are harmless, but Slimers will start oozing out at you shortly. Instead of wasting ammunition on them, use your boots to stomp them. Once the Slimers are gone, clear out the eggs as well—you need a nice open area for your upcoming battle.

2 Beating the Overlord is definitely one of the toughest battles you’ll face, primarily because the space you have to fight him in is so small. Now that you have the room cleared, collect all the ammunition you need, then take a deep breath and open the door by hitting the switch beside it. Immediately pump every Missile you have inside the opening, backing away as you fire. Keep it up, but when the Overlord enters the room, get him in the centre. The only way you can beat him is to circle him as you fire everything you’ve got at him. If he gets in a corner, you’re in trouble. Try to keep him in the centre of the chamber. If you need more Grenades, a secret tunnel across from his chamber should be open, and you can reload there. Be warned—the Overlord can and will follow you in there. If you get trapped, you’re dead. Another good way to beat him is to use your Plasma Cannon. It will take five fully charged shots to lay him out with this weapon if you can score direct hits. Just circle him as it charges up, then let loose when it’s ready. Once he’s dead, it’s on to Shrapnel City, the final episode of the game!

Level 20 Raw Meat

1 You start on a rooftop overlooking the street below. There is a panel on your right that opens to reveal a Missile Launcher. Grab it, and blast the Enforcer who lands on the roof From the rooftop, fire down at the Assault Captains in the street below, and at the Sentry Drones coming up to find you, then jump over the edge. Jump in the pool on your left, and fight the Octabrains and Slimers underwater. Grab the Holoduke, and swim into the connecting pool. Sharks are swimming around here, kill them and notice that there is a barred entrance to another underwater tunnel here. Surface, and walk up the ramp to enter the Sushi bar. Before you enter the bar, jump onto the wall to your right, and drop down on the other side. Grab the Atomic Health here, and shoot the crack in the wall. Drop down into the pool after the explosion, and retrieve the SMG Ammo. Swim up through the outer pool, and then enter the restaurant.

2 As you enter the bar, step to your right to avoid the fire from the laser turret across the room. A door on your left will open to reveal another laser turret. Blast it, then shoot the turret across the room. This area is loaded with hidden walls and secrets, so explore carefully. Grab the Shotgun Shells and Medkit near the ground turret you just blew up. Across from you is a Geisha statue. Jump through the wall directly to the left of her to find a secret area that contains some SMG Ammo and a Medkit. Across the hall, enter the first blue curtain and get the Shotgun from the table. Enter the next dining room, and the table inside will lower. Crouch down and enter the crawlspace. In the chamber beyond there is some Vitamin X and a switch. Activate the switch, then crawl back out. In the hall, push on the Good Old Boys poster to reveal a Shrinker/ Expander behind the sign. In the last blue-curtained dining room, there’s a Portable Medkit and a cracked wall. Drop a Pipe Bomb inside then retreat before you trigger it. The explosion will blow out the corner of the hallway, and you will find a Medkit and a Shrinker Crystal in the flames. Don’t miss the Night Vision Goggles on the hallway floor near the blasted-out corner.

3 Along the left wall there is a sign near the Café sign. Open it and jump inside to retrieve some Armour. Continue past the Blue Access panel and into the private dining room beyond. As you turn the corner, you’ll see that the room is loaded with eggs and Babes held captive. There are also explosive charges inside. Toss a Grenade or Pipe Bomb inside to set off a massive explosion. Enter and rescue the Babes. Kill the wave of Octabrains that enter, then open the gray door at the end of the room. Some Enforcers are guarding the Blue Access Card. Kill them and get the Card. The switch in this room opens a door to the main lobby area.

4 Climb out the window of the vine-covered dining room and walk along the ledge to your right. Face the wall that’s on your left when you reach the end, and jump into a secret area that contains a Babe, Dum Dums, and a Medkit. Jump into the pool below. There are more Octabrains. Get the Red Access Card from the area near the barred door. Push the switch to open the barred door, and swim out and up. Head for the Blue Access panel near the Café sign.

5 Back inside the restaurant, unlock the Blue Door, and walk down the ramp. Kill the Pig Cops and enter the club on your left. Kill more Pig Cops, then explore the two banks of lights on either side of the room. The one on the left as you enter hides a teleporter that takes you outside the restaurant to the top of the ramp. The other bank of lights is a switch that opens the gate to the stage. Open it, then enter the stage. There is a Grenade Launcher stashed in the back corner. Leave the club, and enter the Sushi bar with its water conveyor. At the far right side of the water conveyor, blow out the vent above your head, then climb up. Activate the hand-shaped switch inside the duct. This opens a small room behind the water conveyor that holds some Dum Dums. On the same wall as the vent, there is a small cabinet. Open it and crouch down to get the Night Vision Goggles inside. Turn them on, and you’ll see a sign that says "Push Me." Get the SMG Ammo and Pipe Bombs revealed, then exit the cabinet. You can reach the next area from within the vent with the switch inside, or you can walk around the corner and open the double doors.

6 Kill all of the aliens hiding in here. The panel with the Red Cross on it hides a Medkit. Open the walk-in freezer door and get the Shotgun Shells and Medkit inside. Follow the hall to the left. Several Assault Captains will attack you from the dishwashing station. Kill them, then jump inside the conveyor belt to find some Atomic Health. More Assault Captains will spawn, along with an Enforcer. Kill them, then walk toward the wall of bottles across from you. The shelves on your right will rise up to reveal some Grenades. Walk down the ramp to your left.

7 Lob a Grenade at the bottom right side of the ramp when you are midway down it, to get the Pig Cops hidding at the bottom. Unlock the door ahead with the Red Access Card. The large garage door here is opened by using the switch on the wall and then pushing it. That leads you to the pool where you got the Red Access Card. Walk through the unlocked door and up the ramp beyond. An explosion will rock the building, blowing a Duke-sized hole in the wall. Kill the Enforcers that appear, and step through the hole. Kill the Assault Captains inside. Through the crack in the wall you can see your next destination, the Bank. Jump down into the crater behind the flames and punch the symbol to exit.

Level 21 Bank Roll

1 There are some Pipe Bombs in the area where you start, get the Shotgun on the ledge below, then open fire with something longe-range on the Pig Cops firing at you from across the street. Then jump into the dumpster below and get the Portable Medkit. There are some Shotgun Shells behind the dumpster as well. Blast the two rubbish bins to reveal some Vitamin X and a Slimer. Get the pills and stomp the slimer. If you have a Jetpack, fly up to the ledge the Pig Cops were pummeling you from. Grab the Grenade Launcher and Shotgun Shells and rescue the Babe up here. Jump down and walk along the street. Two Enforcers will drop down from above, followed by a Recon Patrol Vehicle and various other aliens. Don’t enter the garage yet. Head for the front of the bank and the ATM guarded by an Enforcer. Grab the Missiles near the ATM, then push on the ATM screen. Behind it are some Submachine Guns. Get them, then exit to the street. Blast the Assault Commander in the street, using the walls around the ATM for cover.

2 Jump onto the wall surrounding the ATM and walk along it. You’ll find some Armour, Laser Tripbombs, and some Atomic Health. Jump down to street level again. You can’t get in the bank without the Blue Access Card. Return to the dark alcove with the garage door, and enter the door. Above the drinks machines on your left is an Atomic Health. Around the corner you’ll find a lift that will take you to the office upstairs. Enforcers are waiting upstairs. Behind the desk is a switch that opens the picture on the wall to reveal a Missile Launcher. Grab the Missile Launcher, then get the Expander Crystal and the Blue Access Card from beside the desk.

3 Take out the two laser turrets outside the bank entrance, then enter. Shoot the red switch on the wall to your right which opens up a secret area behind the pay phones that contains a Holoduke. Walk around the corner and start clearing the lobby. When you’re through, walk to the back of the room. There is a switch behind the desk that opens the back door. Activate it, then jump into the picture behind the desk to get a Jetpack and some Medkits. Jump down and enter the door.

4 Clear out the room beyond of more Enforcers. Activate all three switches behind the desk. Then turn to the switch nearby, and switch it so that all three "bars" are lit on it, which will open the door to your left. Enter, and follow the red passage. A Drone appears in, so kill it at a distance. There’s a tripwire at the end of the hall. Place a Pipe bomb here and blow up trap. Enter the door at the end of the hall. Get the Shotgun from the circular room beyond, then hit the switch on the door frame to open it. You should see a walkway that leads across to another door. There are several laser turrets in this area, and they all start shooting as soon as you step onto the walkway. Use something accurate, like a Pistol or Shotgun, and destroy them. Walk across, and enter the door on the other side. Walk around the ledge above the pool and rescue the two Babes here. Get the Red Access Card from its platform.

Get the Red Access Card from its platform. Dive into the water. An underwater tunnel will lead you to a Jetpack. Surface, and activate the Jetpack. Fly near the pedestal the Red Access Card was on, and shoot the switch on the wall behind it. The door leading out of the room will open, and you will have to fly through it quickly before it closes.

5 Cross the walkway, there is a teleporter below. Jump down there, and step into the teleporter. It takes you to a chamber near the circular room. Rescue the Babe then get the goodies here. Use the switch near the door to open the door, and step back into the circular room. Return to the room outside the bank vault. Use your Red Access Card to unlock the vault. Kill any Pig Cops who come to investigate, then fire a Grenade or Missile at the wall to the left of the vault door. The wall will explode, revealing some Atomic Health. Get it, then open the vault door.

6 Step into the vault and then quickly retreat out. When one of the Battlelords shoots at you, he sets off an explosion that will damage everyone inside just a bit. Use the room behind you and the lobby to hide out and snipe at the aliens until you’ve beaten them. Enter the vault and step into the hole you’ve blasted in the wall. If you didn’t have a Jetpack earlier, fly up to the ledge mentioned earlier and rescue the Babes there. If not, then kill the Octabrains and Enforcers on the streets, then re-enter the vault through the blast hole. The Exit is located here. Punch it to leave the level.

Level 22 Flood Zone

1 Get the Scuba gear and Medkit in the panel behind you. There is also a Grenade Launcher on your left before you reach the water. Rescue the Babe guarded by an Octabrain on your left above the falls, then jump into the water and ride the falls down. Underwater on your right is a blastable wall. Fire a Grenade at it, then swim underwater until you see a pool above. Kill the sharks and Octabrains underwater, then surface and wipe out the eggs and Octabrains on the landing above. Collect the Explosive Shotgun Shells, the Pistol Clip and the Missile Launcher on the landing, then dive back underwater. You’ll find some more Scuba Gear and Missiles underwater. In the main channel, swim around to your left until you reach a small underwater tunnel.

Do your best to stay submerged as much as you can as there are many aliens on the surface.

Enter the tunnel and swim up to the surface. Climb the short falls then kill the Assault Captains on the landing ahead. Grab the Submachine Guns on the roof of the sunken building, then rescue the Babe in the back corner. Pick up the Grenades near her, then climb up the cliff face until you reach the Blue Access Card. Behind the Blue Access Card is a walkthrough wall. Get the Missiles and Heat-Seeking Missiles behind it and get back down into the water. Submerge and find the Blue Access Panel almost directly below the ledge the Card was on. Unlock the door, and enter.

2 Several Octabrains will meet you, so kill them and continue firing as you enter the chamber. Get the Shotgun Shells and Missiles here. There is a Plasma Cannon, some Scuba Gear, and a Medkit along the light coloured ledge. Once you have them, swim through the vines to the left. You’ll see a sign with an UP arrow painted on it. Swim up, and you’ll surface inside an office. Kill the aliens then take the stairs down. Stand on the ledge overlooking the pool, and pump Grenades into the water to soften things up underwater. Jump down to the ledge on your right and get the Scuba Gear and Grenades. Octabrains are hanging out underwater if you need some target practice. Use your Goggles here if it helps you see better. There is an underwater passage that will take you to an old elevator shaft. Swim down the shaft until you see the Yellow Access Card. Grab it, then get the Dum Dums here as well.

3 Leave this building, and swim back near the start of the level. Underwater, but near the surface enter the office, and enter the door that requires the Yellow Access Card. Head for the roof first. Open the door at the top of the stairs, and start shooting. Take care not to go too far to your left—more aliens will join the fight. All you are trying to do at this point is reduce there numbers for later. Once the area immediately around the door is clear, look for a ledge to the right of the Yellow Access door. Climb it to find some Atomic Health and, in a hidden panel behind it, a Jetpack. Likewise, perform a balancing act to get the Atomic Health and Shrinker/Expander that are on a ledge over the edge of the building. Now take the submerged stairs all the way to the bottom. Kill the Octabrains guarding the room, and then activate the switch near the windows to open the metal shutters. Swim out into the main channel, then across to the submerged marquee which is now higher than it was, revealing the Red Access Card at its base. Get the Card and surface.

4 Use your Jetpack to reach the top of the marquee, where you’ll find a Babe to rescue and some Atomic Health. Get out because there’s a Battlelord across the channel, avoid his attacks by flying, and attack with Missiles until he’s dead. Assault Commanders and Sentry Drones will also throw all they’ve got your way, so keep moving to avoid their fire. Fly up to the roof of the theatre building, where you’ll meet another Battlelord. Blast him the same way, then open the Red Access door. Before you enter, drop down to the ledge below (there are three Enforcers standing on it who will attack as you fly by). Jump into the window to the left to get some SMG Ammo. Fly back up and enter the small computer area near the helipad to get some Heat-seeking Missiles. Now you’re ready to enter the Red door

5 There are three Enforcers inside, so enter with guns blazing. Push on the Hard Hat Area sign on the crate to your left, and a secret passage will open in the crate, revealing a Medkit. Continue, and you’ll find a pool with Octabrains guarding it. Finish them off, then follow the stream downstream. Enter the tunnel on your right, and walk to the end. Be careful not to fall down the pit in the centre of the tunnel, unless you’re ready to exit. Rescue the Babe at the end of the tunnel, and get the Atomic Health there as well. Collect the Grenades and Missiles at the other end of the tunnel, then drop down to the Exit and head for the next level.

Level 23 L.A. Rumble

1 You start the level in an underground tunnel. Collect the Medkit and Shotgun Shells near the start, as well as the Pipe Bombs at the other end of the tunnel. Jump out through the hole in the tunnel’s side after shooting the Pig Cop outside. Walk to the end of the tunnel and turn around, lay a Pipe Bomb at the cracked wall and blow it up. Inside you’ll find a Plasma Cannon and an easy way up to the ledge above. Once on top, kill the Enforcer up here and jump on top of the air duct to get some Grenades. Stay on top of the duct and look to your left. Jump accross to the window ledge, then jump up to the next higher ledge. Walk along the ledge, collecting two Plasma Packs and a Medkit.

During the outdoor portion of this level, you will be taking fire from all kinds of aliens on ledges far away from you. This walkthrough won’t call out every group, since your best bet is to use your Missile Launcher to take them out as they start taking pot shots at you. The Plasma Cannon also works great at long distances. Clearing all the ledges is definitely the plan, but it doesn’t matter which ones you kill first. Just don’t let them shoot at you indefinitely, because you can still take significant damage even at long distances.

2 From the ledge Turn to face the circular ledge below. Run and jump to the circular ledge, then collect the Armour to your left. Turn around and walk along the ledge, killing the Pig Cops you run into. Take out the Enforcers and Assault Commander shooting at you, then fire at the ones high above near the movie screen. Jump down onto the ledge below, and you’ll trigger an earthquake. Grab the Grenades and Armour down here, then walk downhill. Blast the troop of Pig Cops ahead and collect the Pipe Bombs and Medkit lying in the street. There is also a Shrinker/Expander on the ledge above.

3 Enter the open door to the clinic and wipe out the waiting Assault Captains. Get the Night Vision Goggles and Medkit from behind the counter and head for the examination room. Get the Blue Access Card on the examining table, then open the Red Cross panel to get some Vitamin X. Behind the short cabinets along the wall there is a tunnel. Push on the cabinet, then crouch down to enter the tunnel once it appears. You’ll find some Dum Dums and Atomic Health. Re-enter the tunnel and emerge in the exam room. Kill the Enforcers who are waiting for you. Blast a hole in the wall. Climb through the hole, and you’ll emerge in the hall behind the Blue Access Card door.

Open the Blue door if you want, but you’re already where you need to be. Use your Submachine Guns to down the Pig Cops patrolling the halls. There are two elevators here, but only one (the one directly in front of the Blue door) works. Inside the other shaft, you’ll find a Missile Launcher at the bottom. Use the working elevator, and ride it up to the top. As you step out of the elevator, you’ll be attacked by Assault Captains and a laser turret. An Assault Commander is in the defunct elevator shaft. Walk around the corner, and you’ll walk out onto the building’s roof. Shoot at anyone who shoots at you, then take a look at the ledge below the movie of the girl across from you. Back up, take some vitamin X and make a running jump to land on the ledge below her. Now finish off the Enforcers and Assault Captains sharing the ledge with you. Rescue the Babes here, then climb to the highest ledge near the screen. Look up, and you’ll see a set of ledges you can jump up to. Climb them, then make the jump into the adjacent tower’s window.

5 Open fire with your Submachine Guns to clear the room in a hurry. An Enforcer and several Assault Captains will converge on your position. Once they are gone, get the Holoduke behind the desk in the corner. Walk up the stairs and kill the Pig Cop at the top. Once upstairs, take an immediate left as you reach the top and push on the picture on the wall to reveal some Heat-seeking Missiles. The cabinet across the room contains a Babe and some Grenades. Get the Red Access Card and Jetpack from the top of the book shelves, and shred the Assault Captains here. In addition, get the Grenade Launcher from the top of the desk. Walk behind the desk and activate the switch there to open a secret panel on your right. An Assault Captain waits inside. Use the Red Access Card, and push on the bookcase next to it. The bookcase will lower to reveal a teleporter. Step into it to be teleported to the Exit. If you stick around and look out the window, you’ll see a space ship drop down and obliterate a building. When you’re tired of the show, hit the symbol to exit.

Level 24 Movie Set

1 You start the level just outside the box office of a theater. Turn and approach the office, the window opens, and aliens will attack. Take care of them then walk around the corner and kill the Enforcers near the phone. Get the Blue Access Card and return to the front of the box office. Push on the right-hand register, and then run around the corner to catch the panel across from the drinks machine before it goes down. Inside are three Atomic Health. Get the Night Vision Goggles from the top of the machine and head for the street. There are a few Drones out here, so listen for them to power up and blast them from a distance. Investigate the scene of the helicopter crash. Stand on the asphalt and jump onto the wall surrounding the crash site. Jump from the wall to the tiny ledge in front of the billboard, then step inside the billboard near the large triangle on your right. Get the Atomic Health and walk upstairs to get a Plasma Cannon and some Missiles. An Assault Commander will start pumping rockets at you while you’re inside the billboard, so let him have it with a few Missiles. Jump back down to the ledge around the crash site, then jump up to the ledge that goes around the building ahead. Grab the Laser Tripbombs on the ledge, and the Atomic Health on the small building at the end of the ledge. Jump down and shoot the rubbish bins to get some Shotgun Shells and a Medkit. Now head for the Blue Access Panel near the start.

2 There are several large crates stacked about. Use them for protection when you first enter. Once you have them under control, jump onto the lowest crate in the stack near the door, then up until you reach the top. Step onto the crate in front of the air vent, and you’ll hear a click. Jump down and push on the centre of the large stack of crates. A panel slides up to reveal a Missile Launcher. Grab it, then head for that air vent again. Blow out the vent, then crawl inside. Take the second left and kill the Slimers as you work your way around. Using either the second or third vent you come to, blow it out and jump down onto the crate with Atomic Health on top. Now jump down into the room below, and open the door on your right.

3 All the action here happens on the other side of the brown wall to your left. Walk to the end of it, and kill the Enforcers and Pig Cop at the centre of the area. When all is clear, grab the Yellow Access Card, the Jetpack, and the Submachine Guns in the centre. Go to the low end of the partition wall, and jump up onto it. Walk up the wall to get the Atomic Health at the top. Jump down, and return to the shipping room and open the Yellow door at the top of the stairs.

File94

4 Blast the two Enforcers on the lower level. If you use explosives, the blast on the right side will also destroy a portion of the wall, revealing some Atomic Health. The wall in front of the cockpit is a walkthrough wall. Behind it are a Jetpack and a Shrinker/Expander. Get them, then walk into the cockpit from the upper level. Inside you’ll find a Grenade Launcher, a Shrinker Crystal, and the Red Access Card nestled into one of the command chairs. While in the chair, push the screen above you and a panel will open across the room on your left to reveal some Night Vision Goggles. Leave the set, and head for the Red Access panel in the other room.

5 Walking into this room released a Battlelord outside. Activate the switch on the panel to your right, then jump on top of the panel (which opens up the regular exit back in the movie theater) to retrieve some Laser Tripbombs and some Night Vision Goggles. Walk around behind the video monitor and open the door behind it to get some Grenades. Leave the room, but don’t open the large garage door here. Walk through the rooms to the street. Take on the battlelord. But don’t head for the Exit. Instead, walk down the street again.

6 At the end of the street, you’ll see that another door is now open. Enter kill the aliens inside. Approach the blue screen on your right, and push the handprint switch in front of it. A panel will open on your left. Enter it, and follow the passage until you are looking down into a small room with two Alien Beasts inside. Deal with them, then jump down into the room and open the doors ahead. Fight your way to the Secret Exit to Area 51 directly across from you.

Level 25 (Secret Level) Area 51

1 You start inside a dark tunnel overlooking the canyon. Several RPVs are flying around out there, as well as some Assault Captains and Pig Cops. Your best bet is to snipe at the RPVs first from the relative safety of your perch, then drop a few Pipe Bombs below you to thin out the crowd, there are more pipe bombs in the passage behind you. Drop down, get the Shotgun Shells on the roof of the van, then jump down and pickup the Pipe bombs. Continue your walk around the perimeter and you’ll come to an air conditioning unit. Blast a hole in the top, and drop through.

2 Blast a hole in the fan below you to get some Armour. To get out of this hole, climb out and push the switch on one of the pillars. A door will open and you’ll have to fight several Pig Cops in the control room beyond. As you get the Blue Access Card, Enforcers appear behind you. Kill them, then use your Jetpack to fly up the elevator shaft they were in to find some Atomic Health. Down at the bottom, cross the room and enter the teleporter, which takes you outside above the air conditioning unit you entered through. A new round of Assault Captains awaits you outside, head for the Blue door into Area 51.

3 There are two Assault Captains and a Pig Cop dead ahead as you enter, as well as an Enforcer tucked away in an alcove on your left. Wipe them all out to give you breathing room. You can unlock the elevator shaft on the far side of the room by activating the middle of the three buttons on the wall nearby. Don’t use the shaft yet. Instead, head for that alcove the Enforcer was in. When you press the computer there, the corner near the elevator shaft rises to reveal a Portable Medkit. Enter the door in the middle of the wall and blast the Assault Captains waiting on the other side. This room is empty, but a view port on the other side gives you a good angle to pick off the Pig Cops above. Enter the door in the centre. If you face the partition between the two sides, you can jump up on the shelves on your left to open a panel on your right that hides some Atomic Health. Behind the Holoduke is a panel that rises to reveal some Vitamin X. In addition, there is some Atomic Health above the Pipe Bombs near the left-hand door.

4 Return to the room with the open elevator shaft, activate your Jetpack, and fly down the shaft. Manoeuvre around the elevator stuck down here, and continue down until you reach the bottom. Grab the Missile Launcher, then exit the shaft. Blast the Enforcer on your level, and the Assault Captain above. Use the striped lift ahead and hit the switch with a "1" above it in the elevated chamber. Jump down and fight a battle with the Alien Beasts you just released. There are several more inside Room 1. Once you’ve finished them off, grab the Plasma Cannon, and Missiles then hit the round, red switch on the wall. This turns on the light in an alcove across the room that holds the Red Access Card. Jump on the pedestal that has Explosive Shotgun Shells on it, and the alcove will open. You’ll have to hurry to make it in time. Two more Alien Beasts appear as you re-enter the room. Leave the room and ride the lift in the centre up again.

4 Hit the switch with the "2" over it in the elevated chamber. Jump down and enter the door that an Assault Captain is flying from. This is the Roswell storage room, and it’s full of Octabrains. Make sure you toss a Pipe Bomb or Missile at the right rear side of the room. A hole will be blown in the wall that leads to an Octabrain pool and a teleporter. Stepping into the teleporter will take you to the short stretch of railroad track over the canyon outside. Grab the Grenade Launcher on the other side, and return via the teleporter to the Roswell room. Using the computer on the desk here will open a crate near the back wall that has Armour and Scuba Gear inside. After you have the items, walk down the ramp and stand on the striped conveyor belt panel. You’ll be lifted and carried down the line. The belt will drop you near the entrance to a room with a captured alien spaceship inside. Look for a switch near the doorway and activate it to open a teleporter at the end of the conveyor. Run into it, and you’ll be teleported inside the alien ship, where you will find some Atomic Health. Grab it and re-enter the teleporter to get back outside. Destroy the two Alien Beasts that attack then walk up the steps on the left side of the room and flip the switch there to raise the screen ahead of you. Grab the Dum Dums and SMG Ammo back here as well, then unlock and enter the Red door. Enter the teleporter behind the door and take a close look around the control room. Memorise the two patterns of red dots on the panels marked LAUNCH CODE—you’ll need it later. They show a pattern of four dots each, the first with dots "1," "2," and "4" glowing red, and the next pair has dots "3" and "4" glowing. Flip the red circular switch from red to green, and get the Yellow Access Card nearby. Rescue the Babes here while you fight the aliens. Return through the teleporter and open the Yellow door.

5 Be aware that when you enter the Yellow door, you are going to a showdown with a Battlelord at close range. As soon as the lift you’re riding stops, he starts shooting. You have no choice—blast him with everything you’ve got while you stand against the far wall. You have to take him out quickly, or you won’t survive his attacks. Once he’s dead, enter the launch control centre. The multi-position switch on the post activates the launch sequence. Flip it once to raise a bank of four switches on your left. Enter the first sequence by flipping buttons "1," "2," and "4" (left to right). Flip the multi-position switch again to raise a second bank of switches on your right. Push buttons "3" and "4" (left to right) on this bank. You should see two launch switches appear on opposite sides of the room and hear a beep that indicates all systems are set for launch. Launch both missiles by pulling the switches. The exit appears between the two switches. Break the glass and hit the symbol to exit.

Level 26 Rabid Transit

1 Grab the Shotgun near your start position and walk through the turnstile. The bookstand ahead is swarming with Assault Captains, and it’s protected by two laser turrets as well. Blow it all away, and get the SMG Ammo on top of one of the shelves. Don’t miss the Pipe Bombs near the turnstile. Pig Cops will swarm you from the dark platform to the left of the stand. This area is crawling with more Pig Cops, and the platform is booby trapped with Laser Tripbombs, so proceed with caution. Trigger the traps with Pipe Bombs. The double sign for Lunar Apocalypse near the subway’s endpoint slides up to reveal some Submachine Guns. The row of newspaper machines along one wall yields a Holoduke. Get it by pushing on the last drinks machine on your right. One of the newspaper machines lowers to reveal a passage that contains the Holoduke.

2 Head for the end of the station near the stairs, and walk up. Kill any Pig Cops here and walk down the hall to the end, where you’ll see that the tunnel has collapsed. Climb the right hand wall, and jump onto the opposite landing. Push on the shotgun ad to reveal some Atomic Health. Lob a few Grenades down the top of the train to take care of the Pig Cops, then leap onto the train. Drop through the open hole in the top of the train and explore inside. There are more Pig Cops and Enforcers here, get the Dum Dums and a Jetpack. Use the Jetpack to rise back out of the train.

3 Stick to the side near the bookstand, and enter the lost luggage office. Kill the Pig Cop, and jump through either of the windows. Waste the Assault Captains inside, then open the right hand locker at the end of the room to find some Armour. Leave the luggage office and head for the subway station.

4 Jump on the working subway train and ride it to the end. Several Enforcers are waiting for you, so start shooting as soon as you arrive. There’s just one Enforcer in the lavatory, guarding some Explosive Shotgun Shells. As you leave the lavatory, notice the scratches on the wall to your right. Toss a Grenade or Pipe Bomb at the wall and it will explode. The hole leads to the parking garage. Head for the van at the opposite end. On top of it, you’ll find a Pistol and the Blue Access Card. Grab it, and return to the subway train after you kill the aliens who appear when you get the Card. There is some Vitamin X near a pillar, an Assault Commander is between you and the subway train. Clear the crowded station when you arrive, then cross the tracks to the Blue Access panel.

5 Once you’ve unlocked the doors, push on the door to the left of the Blue Access panel. The wall will slide up, revealing a platform with several Pig Cops. Kill them, then jump on top of the rubbish bin and push the ad behind it. The sign rises to reveal some Grenades. Continue around the corner to your right, and you’ll see some stairs with eggs and Slimers covering them. The corridor at the end will explode, allowing you to get some Atomic Health, Missiles ,and the Red Access Card. Two Battlelords will try to stop you, one at each end of the tunnel. If it gets too hot in here, jump out the hole in the wall and lob grenades inside at them until they quiet down. Once it’s clear, collect all the loot and push on the wall at the bottom of the stairs. The wall will slide up to reveal an alien chamber. Inside are some Plasma Packs, a Missile Launcher, some Grenades, and two Babes to rescue! Load up and head for the working subway train.

6 Don’t get on the subway train this time. Instead, jump down onto the tracks after it passes, and run along behind it. Jog into the tunnel you come to on your right, kill the Enforcers inside, collect the Missile Launcher, and use the Red Access Card to unlock the door. Enter, but watch out for the Battlelord at the bottom of the stairs. When all’s clear, jump to the top of the bookcase on the wall and walk along it until a panel opens to reveal some Medkits, Missiles, and Grenades. Shoot the vase between the shelves to reveal some more Missiles. Now dive into the pool and rescue the Babe on the island. Submerge, and nuke the Octabrains down here. Swim through the small tunnel and you’ll surface near the Exit. Hit the symbol to exit.

Level 27 Fahrenheit

1 You start Fahrenheit in a cave behind a dumpster. Push the dumpster out of the way, and climb onto the wall ahead. Kill the Assault Captains and Pig Cops below, then jump into the stream. When it carries you down stream far enough, submerge and attack the Octabrains swimming around down here. There are a Shotgun and a Shrinker/Expander below, so bring them up with you when you surface in the connecting pool. You should see the Blue Access Card on the landing dead ahead as you surface. Grab it and the Medkit and Shotgun Shells and dive back into the water to return to the courtyard. Walk down the ramp and open the Blue Access Door.

2 Walk ahead and turn right at the bottom of the ramp to reach a large, open warehouse on your right. This place is loaded with aliens. Climb the crates, and get the Atomic Health on top of the crate. Jump from the crate to the ledge near the windows where some Pig Cops are taking pot shots at you. Enter the apartment through the windows. Use a Grenade or Missile on the cracked wall on your right. The ensuing explosion releases two Assault Commanders. Push on the picture to reveal a Plasma Cannon flanked by spinning Laser Turrets. There are some Night Vision Goggles in the bookcase on your left, around the corner is another shelf, this one is a walk through the wall that leads to a Medkit. Grab it if you need it, then get the Vitamin X on top of the other shelves in the room.

3 Jump out the window, and use the crates to jump in the opposite direction. Fight the aliens guarding the Fire Station. Get the Atomic Health on top of the fire truck, then blow a hole in the wall to your left. There is also a Medkit behind the first aid symbol. Walk up the stairs and turn left at the first intersection. Go down the main hallway to your right, then turn left and right to reach the door in the back corner. Enter the large room with Missiles blazing. Midway down the right-hand wall is a long white panel. Open it and get the Heat-seeking Missiles inside. There’s a Babe to rescue at the end of the room, and some SMG Ammo beside her. Leave the room, turning right then left. Open the door to the closet here, and flip the switch inside. There’s another switch on the right hand wall ahead. Jump over to it and activate the switch. The circular wall surrounding the fire pole will lower. Jump onto the platform to get the Yellow Access Card. Jump down into the garage near the fire truck and leave the station. Head for the entrance to the television station, and use the Yellow Access Card to enter.

4 As you enter, be aware that there are Enforcers on the stairs inside. Take a sharp right at the top of the stairs and walk along the wall until you reach a control area with a Missile Launcher on the console. Continue down the wall. Open the disguised door on your left that hides the space behind the console and get the Red Access Card. Head for the top of the stairs again, and open the double doors. Dodge the Assault Commander’s incoming rounds, then jump behind the curtain and get the Plasma Packs there. As you leave the room, turn left and open the door to reach the roof and some Explosive Shotgun Shells. Take out any Assault Captains flying around up here, then re-enter the building. Walk down the stairs and head for the landing you found the Blue Access Card on earlier.

There are a few things you can do first, if you’re in the mood. Finish exploring the Fire Station to garner a few more items (nothing major, but every little bit helps). Activate your Jetpack as you leave the Fire Station and fly up to the huge "Innocent?" sign above the crates. A panel should be open behind it with a Babe inside. Rescue her and then continue the mission.

5 You’re almost done now. The Red Access panel is located on the landing above the pool you dove into to find the Blue Access Card. Swim to it, then unlock the door. Don’t open it yet—there are two Battlelords and friends beyond the door. Lay some Pipe Bombs down just outside the door. You can also use some Laser Tripbombs to block the path. Be careful! Once you’re ready, open the door and retreat into the pool. The Battlelords should see you and walk forward enough to set everything off. If they don’t, then fire a Missile at all that ordnance from the back of the pool. Use the pool for cover, diving underwater after every shot. Eventually you’ll surface and they’ll be dead. Enter the chamber they were in and hit the switch to get a Grenade Launcher. The back wall should have blown up, but you may need to give it some help. Climb the shattered wall and you’ll see the Exit tucked away in a hole in the back. Jump in and hit the atomic symbol to leave Fahrenheit.

Level 28 Hotel Hell

1 You begin in a hole in the wall outside the hotel. Climb out to the street, and jump up onto the wooded wall ahead to get the Shotgun. Expect an assault from the Pig Cops on the other side, including the one guarding the Portable Medkit in the dumpster. Shoot anything that moves on that side of the wall, including the Slimers that ooze from the rubbish bins when you blow them up. Use the dumpster as a stepping stone to jump up to the ledge above, where Pig Cops are peppering you with lead. Kill the first one, grab the Vitamin X behind the fan, then jump onto the fan to reach the next ledge. The Blue Access Card is at the end of this ledge. Pocket it and jump back down the way you came up. Unlock the door and enter the Hotel.

2 Waste the Pig Cops as you enter the loby, and enter the lavatory on your right. Collect the Explosive Shotgun Shells and Grenade Launcher and leave. An Alien Beast will attack you as you leave

If you feel like taking the risk, let the Alien Beast shrink you with his shrink ray. Then you can walk under the stall and collect the Atomic Health on the other side.

There’s a Shrinker Crystal on top of the drinks machine in the lobby, and if you turn right after you pass the drinks machines, you’ll enter a passage that takes you to a Babe to rescue! Free her and kill the Slimers and Pig Cops that appear. The Slimers only appear if you blow up the rubbish bins. The opening ahead is a back door entrance, and two RPVs are sailing around back here. Ground them and annihilate their drivers. Walk down the ramp and around the front of the hotel. There are Pig Cops and Enforcers shooting at you from two windows. Kill them and then jump through one of the windows to enter the room beyond. There’s an Alien Beast lurking here as well. Once you’ve emptied the room, push on the picture on the wall to reveal the Yellow Access Card. Grab it and head for the hotel lobby. As you drop into the street, an Assault Commander will make his move to cut you off. Drop him, and head for the front door.

3 Fire up your Plasma Cannon as you enter—a Battlelord is working the front desk. Another Battlelord with an Enforcer will come from your left. Use the desk for cover. Behind the front desk there are some Shotgun Shells, a Portable Medkit and some Armour hidden behind the light-coloured strip in the left-hand set of mail boxes. Activate the switch on your left, and get the Grenades on the floor across from you. Use the Yellow Access Card to open the elevator and ride upstairs.

4 A Pig Cop will assault you as you open the Elevator door, and a swarm of Enforcers will attack from the bar on your left. Duck into the elevator and shut the door to avoid their attacks if it gets too hot. There are more Enforcers on your left, so start shooting as soon as you leave the elevator. Grab the Holoduke along the wall and take a look at the shark pool. Behind the bar, an open door will give you a glimpse of a captive Babe. There are actually two of them back there. Don’t rush in to save them—another Battlelord is waiting for you, along with some Assault Captains and Enforcers. Start tossing Grenades around the corner and retreat out of the room as you fire. Behind the bar there’s a secret panel between the two cabinets full of drinks. It slides up to reveal a Medkit, Scuba Gear, and some Pipe Bombs. This passage also leads to an entrance to the Shark pool. Go swimming in it, and kill the sharks. Get the Plasma Cannon in the pool here, then return to the bar. There is another secret in the same bar at the end of the wine rack. Here you’ll find some Explosive Shotgun Shells.

5 Jump in the pool and finish off the Octabrains below. When they’re dead, climb out and step up on the ledge overlooking the other buildings. Several Enforcers are shooting at you from the building across the street. The room they were in leads to the regular Exit from Hotel Hell. If you want to leave now, fly over and jump into the air vent there and you’ll find the Exit. Otherwise, continue exploring. Grab the Night Vision Goggles in the corner and shoot the two fire extinguishers on the wall. Step out onto the ledge outside to get some Missiles, two Atomic Health and some Heat-seeking Missiles. Several Pig Cops and an Assault Commander will attack you while you collect the goods. On the ground below, you’ll see an Overlord. With your height advantage, the odds are in your favour now. Drop Grenades and Missiles on his head, ducking back into the hallway to avoid his shots. Once he’s dead, continue searching the hallway.

6 Open the door opposite the hole you blasted in the wall and kill the Pig Cops and Enforcer sharing the room. Get the Grenades on the dresser, then jump through the air duct to find another room with a captive Babe inside guarded by Assault Captains. Rescue the Babe and get the SMG Ammo and nearby Medkit. Leave through the door and walk down the hall.

Behind the door marked Exit is a switchback stairway that will lead you to the lobby near the drinks machines. This stairway is full of Pig Cops, so use the blind corners to lob grenades on them before they see you. You’re about done here. Go back upstairs and head for the pool.

7 Step into the waterfall that feeds the pool, and you’ll be teleported to a small canyon with a cavern beyond. Get the Plasma Cannon near the falls, and then push the red hand print to open the cavern. Deep within, you’ll find a pedestal with some Atomic Health on it, as well as the remains of Indiana Jones. Looks like he finally met his match. Pop some Vitamin X and grab the Atomic Health and run out the cavern entrance before it can collapse on you. The Secret Exit is hidden on your left as you leave the cavern. Walk over and pound it to go to Freeway, the last secret level in the game.

Level 29 Freeway

1 You start Freeway in the Octabrain infested sewer. The wall behind you is blastable. Use a Pipe Bomb on it while underwater, and you’ll find some Shotgun Shells and some Atomic Health. Collect the Shotgun on the sewer floor as you swim down the channel. You’ll have to swim underwater to make it through the grating ahead. Several more Octabrains are in this section of the tunnel. If you need a break from the Octabrains’ attacks, surface. They can’t touch you while you’re not submerged. There’s a Grenade Launcher underwater at the end of the tunnel. Get it then surface. A Drone will attack, so dive back down quickly to avoid it. Jump onto the ledge along the sewer and kill the Pig Cop. Behind him there are some Laser Tripbombs and Armour. The wall between the two window slits is blastable, use it to give you a way out to the street.

2 You’ll step out of the sewer into an underpass. Turn on your Night Vision Goggles if you have them. Get the Missile Launcher across from you as you shoot the Pig Cops and RPVs passing through. The rubbish bin near your entry point has some Atomic Health inside. Use the walls of the underpass to protect you as you shoot down the RPVs. Walk up the ramp that was to your left as you exited the sewers. If you didn’t destroy the rubbish bins in the corner, use them to reach the ledge and get the Vitamin X, Armour, and Missiles on the ledge to your right, then jump up to the ledge on your left and retrieve the Portable Medkit.

Walk along the ledge to the end near the underpass. The window to your right will open when you push it, and you’ll be able to climb into a lavatory with a Plasma Cannon on the floor. Grab it, then jump down—you can’t open the lavatory doors from here. Cross back under the underpass, and jump onto the ledge to the left. As you enter the narrow passage here, an explosion will rock the building. On the other side, if you’re extremely lucky, you’ll see a dead Overlord here that was killed by the explosion of the building behind him. If he survived, you’ll have to fight him and be attacked by Drones at the same time. Use the tunnel for cover. After you’ve dealt with him, walk down the street. In the alcove near the doors, there are two Babes to save, some Pipe Bombs, and a Medkit. Cross the street and get the Grenades in the corner. Two more Pig Cops are in an alcove to your right, near the Blue Access panel. Lay them out, then get the Shotgun Shells nearby.

3 As you approach the squad car in the alley around the corner, it will explode, There’s a Medkit behind the dumpster at the end of the alley, and some SMG Ammo in the dumpster itself. Climb the stack of crates and jump to the ledge above. Walk along the ledge, and jump up onto the two fans at the end of the ledge. Look to your left and you’ll see a glass window. Shoot it and the Pig Cop beyond, then jump across (grabbing the Atomic Health outside) and enter the Police Chief’s office. Kill all the Pig Cops in the office, then push the switch behind the desk to open a secret panel near the potted plant that holds some Pipe Bombs. Open the door to the hallway, and blast the Pig Cops patrolling it. There are two laser turrets in the hall that you may want to destroy as well. Midway down the left-hand wall is the Armoury. Just past it is a blastable wall. Lob a Grenade or Pipe Bomb at it, and enter the hole you create. There are Heat-seeking missiles, a Pistol Clip, and a Medkit inside. Return to the hallway and enter the busted elevator shaft. At the bottom, crouch down to enter the small stairwell and turn right to find a Babe and a Medkit. Through the hole in the wall there are a few Octabrains underwater, as well as a Jetpack. You’re done here—use the Jetpack to fly back up the shaft. Midway up the wall, there is a door with a switch beside it. Hit the switch to open the elevator door.

4 You have entered the back offices of the L.A.R.D. Enter the small electrical room across from you and hit the switch on your left to open the door at the end of the hall. Work your way down the hall, and enter the door on your right. Kill the Pig Cops inside and rescue the Babe in the back corner. Get the Shotgun Shells here, then leave the room and enter the station. Blast the Pig Cops behind the desk to shreds, then jump through the window to enter. Take a look at the mug shots of Duke Nukem’s creators, then finish mopping up the office. The two switches on the desk open and close the gates you’ve already been through. Grab the Medkit from the file drawer if you need it, then jump on top of the drinks machine. Shoot out the air vent, and follow the duct to your left which will bring you out on the ledge above the underpass.

5 The only way to get the Blue Access Card is to fly up to it. There is a row of windows above and to the left of the L.A.R.D. entrance. Soften up the Enforcers and Assault Captains inside by launching a few long-range missile shots at them. Enter, and get the Medkit and Pipe Bombs on top of the drinks machine. There are also some Shotgun Shells at the back of the room. Push on the bookshelves across from the drinks machine. Inside the secret area revealed, you’ll find a supply of Missiles. Turn left as you leave the secret area, and shoot the blastable door behind the Blue Access Card. Get the Access Card and retrieve the Medkit, Plasma Pack, and Submachine Guns in the room beyond. Fly back out the window, and bombard the Battlelord who has appeared in the street below. Head for the alcove across from the L.A.R.D. HQ.

6 Once in the alcove, use the Blue Access Card to open the panel on your left. Blow away the Pig Cop in the lift beyond, then take the short ride up to a room with two conveyor belts inside. You can stop the belts by pushing the switch between them. Walk across and get the Night Vision Goggles and Grenades. Fight your way through the Enforcers inside, then hug the right-hand wall. Activate the switch ahead to raise a panel and dodge the Drone. Get the Red Access Card and the Plasma Cannon, and then enter the Terminator Crusher in the middle of the room to get the Atomic Health and Grenade Launcher inside. The two striped wall panels in the wall behind you are windows. Jump through them and kill the Enforcers that have been shooting you in the back. Collect the SMG Ammo, then leave the area, returning to the street below. You have everything you need to exit.

7 The window in the alcove across from the Blue Access Panel will slide up when you push it. Enter the room to get the Dum Dums and Shrinker/Expander, then walk around the corner. The stairs lead to a blastable door. Blast through it, and you’ll be in the lavatory you visited earlier. Return to the alcove by the Blue Access Panel, and head into the alley nearby. Use the Red Access Card to unlock the door here, and open it. Toss a few Missiles inside to take care of the Pig Cops there, which will also blow up the wall to reveal the Exit. Give it a smack to head for your showdown with the Cycloid Emperor.

Level 30 Stadium

You’ve reached the final showdown between you and the alien hordes. It all comes down to one final battle. The aliens have agreed to a one-on-one, winner-takes-all battle between Duke and their Cycloid Emperor. If Duke loses, the Earth belongs to the aliens. If Duke wins, the aliens leave Earth for good. Good luck, Duke—you’ll need it!

1 If you take a quick look around, you’ll see that the stadium contains just about every item in the game. There is Atomic Health in the End Zones, and the stands are peppered with ammo and weapons. You shouldn’t have to use much of it if you came in here fully loaded. If you have a Jetpack, get airborne. If you don’t have one, there is one here, but don’t bother. You’re more likely to die in the attempt before you can reach it.

2 The Emperor is hard to miss. He dominates the centre of the stadium. You can take him down if you have enough patience and can keep him in the centre of the field. Fire up your Plasma Cannon, and begin circling him while still aiming at him, either on the ground or in the air. If you stay at fairly close range, he won’t shoot missiles at you, and his breath weapon will miss because you are circling. Let loose with all the fully charged Plasma shots you’ve got, then switch to Missiles. Watch your range—you don’t want to take damage from your own shots. Keep circling him and throwing every Missile you have at him. If he doesn’t die yet, then switch to your Shotgun and use Explosive Shotgun Shells on him. Keep firing, even if you end up using just your pistol. You should have him worn down enough by then that you can finish him off. If you run out of ammunition completely, head for the bleachers, but keep moving as you collect items to reload. The Holoduke here won’t do you much good, but it’s a nice thought. After what seems like forever, the mighty Cycloid Emperor will fall and the planet will be safe once more. Take a vacation, Duke. You’ve earned it!
